Shocking

I played here yesterday and even though it was free as the reception was closed it was still a waste of time.

The ‘fairways’ haven’t been mown in months so every shot was a five minute search for your ball and the greens had been tended to oddly but were covered in debris and clumps of dry mud. It was also a task trying to locate the next tee.

It’s disappointing as this place looks like it could be a great little course as a lot of the holes had a bit of character about them but it’s all just been completely neglected.

Mud bath

Arrived to find “club shop” was closed and you could have simply walked on without paying.

Absolute mud bath of a day, should have closed the course.

I have played in the Summer and it was excellent for £15 but in the Winter - AVOID

What golf course

Either I’m really bad or the course didn’t have any obvious signs of fairway and rough. Greens awful, dog poo on the 4th green.

Tee boxes mainly mud and the tee pegs were under long grass on most holes. So guessed where we tee off from. Didn’t play course in order as confusing layout.

Nice little course

Cannock is short but certainly challenging (at least it was during the 20-40mph gusts experienced during my visit). Considering the time of year, the ground was still firm - preferred lies at the moment maybe not even needed as I tended to just play where it lay

It could do with a bit of TLC - some of the tees aren't marked and it is not always evident where the next hole is (although the course is layed out on the scorecard), but considering the price I certainly have no complaints and am going to play again soon

Nice course

well laid out course some good challenging holes for my level of play a good walk greens could do with some work as could they T boxes as some of these were in a terrible condition. and they need to reduce the numbers on the course as we got caught in a couple of bottle necks as there were that many on the course with a bit of work could be a cracking course

First time playing and first time doing 18 holes

Overall i enjoyed myself and thought the course was enjoyable. Other golfers was friendly and easy to chat to and even didn’t mind asking for tips as i’ve only got into playing golf a few months ago. Greens and fairways was all kept to a good condition but I can only compare it to playing the par 3 at Lichfield Golf and Country Club. But as that par 3 is the same price at the 18 hole course at Cannock, you can’t go wrong. Definitely would recommend

Cheap

If you read the reviews you wouldn't go, but we did and I'm glad I did , we followed 2 four balls, they were slow, these council owned courses let anybody play,.

I thought the fairways needed a bit of TLC, but saying that the greens were absolutely superb,

We had 2 older members behind us very kind told us which way the fairways ran,

Can't fault the course for the price, the only thing I would have to say, is the directions are RUBBISH, the distance boards on the Tees need to be bigger than a postage stamp, that's if the Tees have got them,

Plus the ladies Tees have to be set out better. Plus could do with more hazards, bunkers, alot more. Make it more interesting, couldn't say anything about the shop it was shut, and that's a Saturday, not good.

So overall I would definitely recommend this course

Challenging

It's my second time on this course and I think it's a course you start to warm too. It's a pleasant, friendly and relaxed atmosphere and quite challenging. The only criticism is the number of dog walkers and others wondering about seemingly without any regard to the dangers of golf balls but as they say you can't have everything.

Dont let previous reviews put you off.

Cards on the table, Didnt expect much from this course from previous reviews but you know what its alright..

We expected, probably wrongly it to be a bit of a dive. Course is really decent and we both really enjoyed it. Greens where in good nick, the members let us through.. cant ask for more really...

for 15 bangers id go any day of the week!
