Greens in poor condition Photo submitted by djmesser on 05/14/2021
Good enough for the price
For 10.50 per round, you don't expect the greatest course in the world but I pleasantly surprised. Definitely one of the better kept 'municipal' courses I've played. Was fairly busy when we played but didn't have to wait around too much (though there were a few areas where the tees were very close to greens meaning there was a bit of a risk of a 'fore' if you pulled an approach shot!). Signage could've been better as sometimes it wasn't obvious where the next hole was, but in general the course was pretty entertaining to play with every hole being different. Would visit again if I just wanted a cheap/quick round
Bargain
For the cost of the course. It’s a lovely course that’s kept very well. One note of caution the holes often chris cross so best make sure you’re playing the right hole/aiming for the right green!!!
Great Value
At a quid a hole you can't complain, course has a few challenging holes. Trees are placed in the middle of fairways. No par 5, hole 17 has been shortened and has become a Par 4 that you can get on off the tee box.
Dog walkers on fairways & kids building castles in a bunker.
The course could be good.but genuinely we saw more dog walkers on fairways than we did other golfers... To the point where we couldn't tee off for kids walking across a fairway, and a dog walker interrupting us to see if they were ok to walk across us...
The funniest moment though was a bunker on the 5th hole where there were 3 children, literally sat in a bunker, making sand castles and burying one of the children under the sand.
You honestly couldn't make it up.
Missing Hole Markers for Many Holes
The course was just impossible to navigate as it was our first visit, Even the first hole has two very small yellow markers flat to the ground, with zero markings, hole number, yardage or similar. They also add to the confusion by using assorted red and yellow flags on both ina nd outward holes, with very few signs showing the next tee. We wasted around 25 minutes trying to find the 16th tee due to a complete lack of markings.
VFM
Played yesterday around 1230 and virtually had the course to ourselves. Greens were a lot better than I expected and looks like some tees had been watered too. Great if you want a quick round and a few interesting holes and great value for money
Value round
For £10 ish, you really can't complain. The greens were too lush and far too slow, but the rest of the course was in decent nick. I had a really enjoyable.round with my lad for his first ever round of golf. For that price I'd definitely go again!!
Good value
It isn’t the longest of courses but it’s a good challenge, has some interesting holes. Although fairly basic, for the price, it offers could value.
Greens could do with a trim and bunkers are terrible, but still, for the price, can’t complain
Probably the best price for any course in the midlands
Played Cannock about 8 months ago and it wasn’t in bad shape and the price was amazing returned last week and was shocked how good the course conditions were really well kept greens and fairways I will be going back again definitely you can’t beat the price for what you get and quite testing if you hit a few Bad shots very unforgiving on some holes
Cannock golf course
Played here quite a few times ,and the course on Saturday 30th April 2022 was realy dry and fast paced on the green's. But absolutely worth the green fee's .always enjoy returning to cannock golf course . In 2 word's ,
TRY IT .
Cannock course
The course was in good condition and not muddy although is had rained in the days previously.
The greens were challenging due to the undulations in the ground but in good condition.
The reception was closed with no score cards available or any instructions on where to obtain them , or to register our arrival.
Better than expected
The course was great once another golfer gave us a course card.
No staff as the reception hasn’t re-opened since being furloughed. So no idea about the course. But once we got going it was great. Very hilly, difficult greens, but some good fairways. No par 5, although a couple of holes felt they could have been.
Decent course.
