Impressive
Lovely course. The greens are in mid works of new drainage system. But when completed will be a hidden gem for me
Nice but greens under repair
It's a lovely course, great staff and welcoming members. The only issue (and there was a warning, granted after the booking was made) that there are several greens under repair. They were pretty bad. The one on the 3rd or 4th was completely unplayable.
Once these are sorted, I'll look forward to coming back again!
A sad golf course
Unfortunately in very poor condition. Pre warned about greens which were atrocious, however the fairways were impossible to differentiate from the first cut as the grass was so long. They also had lots of mud patches as they've seemingly have not been cared for over.winter. Tee boxes again a sad state of affairs. To top it off pace of play was horrendous. No Marshall's to stop slow four balls playing under the old rules of golf. Not worth the money and a dull up and down golf course with no interesting features.
The worst greens
There are tram lines down every single green as if someone’s just laid garden turf with little care and attention making it impossible to play them. They’re also concrete dry.
The course was good but the staff in the pro shop were poor
A rule in the middle of summer telling us we can only where white scocks if we are in shorts is a bit late to impose when we are already at the course with black sports socks on. The fact it looks smarter and better in black socks shouldnt matter it is more rules like this that turn more and more people off golf.
Best course in Kent!
Absolutely stunning course with lovely kept tees and greens and great helpful staff and top quality buggies.
Will be playing here in the near future.
Decent for Pay & Play
£26 - green and lush. Decent condition. Course just rotates round the driving green. Hard to lose a ball. Enjoyable but not memorable for any specific signature holes. Clubhouse exterior is dated.
Current issues with accessing due to road blocks
Nice course but a little to pricey
Played the course on Saturday with my son and we both enjoyed playing the course and both finished just below our handicaps which always helps. We did come away with a few observations both good and bad.
Good - both the staff and the members seemed really friendly and helpful both on and off the course. Pace of play was pretty good under 4 hours and that was with us following behind a series of 4 balls. Good adherence to all the current Covid restrictions without being to over the top.
Bad - some of the greens did not seem to be in the best of conditions with several with newly laid sections of grass that appear to be struggling to take in the current conditions, several also had small holes in them which I’m not sure what has caused these but made putting a challenge on occasion. Our main issue was the price which at £45 was just a little more than we thought worth it.
A good day overall though despite me loosing to my son on the last again!!
Enjoyable day, everyone very friendly
We played here today as we struggled to find a tee time, everyone from the guy at the gate, pro shop staff, starter and even the members we came across on our way round were very friendly, course was in brilliant condition and the greens fantastic, would highly recommend a knock here!
good course, friendly staff and members
Easy to book in at Pro Shop. Staff and members/other players we met on course were very friendly. Course in great condition, greens soft to land on but fast to putt.
Great weather meant that, all in all, a great round of golf.
DO NOT JOIN
Joined as a flexible member.
tried to play 2 rounds
1st round the greens were like a bog due to no drainage and tee boxes only a little better
2nd round in hot weather half the fairway bunkers were GUR
Apparently they made a choice between cutting the fairways and sorting the bunkers.
Tough rough
Had a great day - course in good shape and greens great. Only criticism would be that the tees had not been cut and were all slightly too long. Rough was treacherous and once ball went in, no point in looking as was well and truly gone.
First visit, made a good impression
Nice course, varied challenges all the way round. Pretty tight in places, so some course management required.
Still recovering from the recent bad weather so there was plenty of work being caught up on. Greens were true and relatively speedy. They're still working on getting the rough cut and in places it was brutal trying to escape.
Staff in clubhouse very friendly.
Good course
The course was in good condition, the fairways are very good and the greens are tricky and fast. A good challenge for all levels of player. I will play it again.
green in very good condition and fairways good will play course again but not on Wednesday till after 12 as this is ladies day
Nice course, abysmal greens
Played Cherry Lodge for the third time yesterday and left largely disappointed at the standard of the greens.
I appreciate that the course is undergoing some maintenance but the greens were the worst I've played. Bobbly, spiked and grass half an inch long. It ruined our round.
A member of our group summed it up perfectly - "it's like putting on a really poor fairway".
Shame, as the course layout is good, tee boxes and fairways were in fair condition and the speed of play was good.
Huge reservations about returning anytime soon.
