For golfers of all levels
I've played this course several times and really enjoy it.
The course offers a nice balance whereby the Front-9 has a few longer holes the require a bit of distance and accuracy off the tee to set up a mid-iron approach to the green in comparison to the shorter Back-9 where course management is rewarded, there are also a couple of Par-4s that can be reached by the longer (and accurate) hitter.
The staff at Cherwell have always been very friendly and offer a warm welcome to all visitors. The facilities are very good, there is a floodlit driving range (lessons available), putting green, Pro Shop and the usual Club House facilities.
My only criticism would be the pace of play, the course is well used by members and you can sometimes find yourself stuck behind a 4-ball for a few holes before they consider letting you play through. Saying that, even with the hold up you are still almost guaranteed to get around in a fairly decent time.
I played early Feb and the course was very wet due to heavy rain the night before. The club does take very good care to maintain the course all year round and unless there is a heavy frost the main greens will be in play. Given the time of year the course was in good condition, a few astroturf tee boxes were in play. Should you venture down in the summer months the course is generally in immaculate condition 7 days a week.
I would definitely recommend this course, it offers a unique challenge to golfers of all levels and will test all facets of your game which is why I enjoy going back.
