Awful Greens
Played here a few times over the past few years and it has gone down hill massively. Fairways need mowing, changing facilities are tired looking & tee boxes are battered. But that pales into insignificance when compared to the state of the greens. Covered in pitch marks, even some divots and impossible to put on. Really disappointing course and unless there’s massive changes I can’t see it staying open much longer
Excellent VFM
My wife and I are both high-handicappers in our 70's, and we played 18 holes there recently, despite being put off by the negative reviews (from 4 years ago). I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable rounds we've played in a long time. The staff were very welcoming, and we paid £75 for two green fees and a buggy. OK, so the tees were a bit scruffy, as were some of the fairways, but then so is our golf. Greens very good to excellent. Wide fairways, and the rough was all of 2 inches thick. The trees were in lovely autumn colours, and there was hardly anyone else around, Long holes, and 14 - 18 were particularly attractive. Lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Do go and play the course - you won't be disappointed.
Nice course but needs more love.
First time visiting this course and my first piece of advice is that if you follow the SAT NAV, it may try to take you up a narrow driveway....if it does, you have turned too soon. The entrance to the golf club is very clearly marked with a sign so don't make the same mistake I did.
The club house and main building is very encouraging and the chap on the desk when I arrived (early) was very helpful and quite proud of the place and happy to help me get sorted for my round.
As I played on the Tuesday morning at 8.30am, the course was deserted and so it was like playing millionaires golf.
The course itself has lots of wide forgiving fairways which allow high handicappers like myself to play to a reasonable level. The weather was very hot and the fairways and greens were in need of some love. The greens especially were not as good as they could have been but it didn't stop me enjoying my time at Rye Hill and I would absolutely return.
Big wide open fairways
The course is very inviting with many long holes with wide fairways. The front nine is generally flat and with few bunkers. The back nine is more undulating with holes making the most of the valleys and sloping landscape. Whilst this does present some unique challenges the greens let the course down with many showing bear patches and holes. Despite this I would recommend anyone to have some fun in this course.
Poor course
First time going, just seemed like the course wasn't maintained as much as needed, the was holes in the greens and also bunkers/ mounds which should have sand in just didn't even know on gps it says bunker.

Dry and slow. Fantastic staff
It's really tough on golf courses right now. You turn up with your son hoping to have a great time in a few hours off work. And a round of golf is perfect for that. The staff at Rye Hill were great. Really good. It's been dry. Very dry. The fairways are obviously struggling. But the greens are dying. Literally. What a shame. All that would be fine and acceptable. What isn't is nearly 3 hours to play 10 holes. We had to leave then. Normally we get round 18 in 3hours 15 max.
Great VFM
Arrived with a touch of trepidation after reading the reviews.
This course has so much potential. But, it requires some TLC, as all areas of the course require attention. Water seems to be an issue as the course is very dry. Greens were however receptive to a ball and have been kept fairly long, I presume to protect them through this dry spell. Speed was slow but they were true.
Bunkers were poor and many have been filled in to reduce costs and maintenance.
Signage could be better between holes but the course map presented from the helpful staff really helps.
Upon departing after an enjoyable round, the one word I would use is ‘potential’. Closely followed by, ‘excellent value for money’.
An excellent back 8 holes left me feeling like I want to play this course again. Loved the 14th hole which sits next to the entrance road, with the 17th hole being the worst due to the dust bowl tee box.
Thanks RHGC
Good for a loosener
Played Rye hill yesterday as needed to get out for a swing of the clubs, for £14.99 you can’t grumble.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, got talking to a couple of golfers too.
If you’re not too fussy about playing a pristine course and just want to get out and have a game then it’s ideal

Nice course design in terrible condition but it was cheep
Rye Hill Golf Course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this long course with challenging back 9. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Tea, coffee , cold drinks & snacks available from the Pro Shop. Cafe closed.
Course currently suffering from a long spell of dry weather but, nevertheless, very playable.
As usual booked through Golf Now. Fantastic value for money at £20 each. Would definitely return.
1st time players
Very hot day quite challenging to walk but enjoyed our 1st visit lots of trees and quite narrow fairways greens great a couple with repairs on but didn't affect enjoyment or smooth puttinh
Great value for money and we will be back probably with a buggy nxt time 👍

Got a Hot Deal on a Saturday afternoon, the course, especially the greens are in very poor condition, bunkers have nearly all been filled in & those that are left are not maintained & are hard & full of stones.
Quite quiet so got around nice & quick but clubhouse was closed when we got back about 6pm
Place needs some serious attention if it wants to attract more customers
Good Course
Played for the first time can be a little confusing with layout but staff gave a map on layout to help.
Interesting course could be a little long for beginner's.
A good challenge here and i will enjoy playing again.
Very friendly stagf
We did 18 holes on Sunday had great staff welcoming named Has. We didn’t call for a buggy but they still managed to get us one before we went out. Would recommend.
Staff were fantastic
Staff were really helpful, as we booked the wrong day and went above and beyond to help us out
