Course a good test and looking back to how it used to be and has great greens now
As always a great test and greens Luvly and true
Pathways could be redone on shells like the old days and a bit more tidy up around tee boxes
Always will play here
Decent course, painfully slow play.
I had read previous reviews about the slow play, but decides to give it a go anyway.
I walked up to the first tee box and there was a 4 ball, teeing off at my time.
For some reason, they were waiting for a group in front to be 300 yards ahead, just to hit their driver 200 yards!
They never let me play through once.
Worst part was, I was stood on the yellow tee box on more than one occasion, as they were teeing off on the whites. They walked past me, without any acknowledgement at all. Unbelievably arrogant.
It's such a shame because this is a really decent course, especially for the money. I don't know why nothing is being done about the slow play, as its clearly an ongoing issue.
Twilight experience
As always a great test on each hole with very true running greens
Little let down by condition of tee boxes and path mtce
Overall a very nice round with small touches to make better
For a tenner better than the range
Back next week
Another stupidly slow round
Yet again the same gripes with this course as last time we played. The pro shop really need to sort out their tee time management. We booked online for 5:15pm only to have a 2 ball on the 1st tee at our selected paid time who had obviously just turned up and been allowed to take our time. And to make matters worse they were a 2 ball sharing one bag of clubs!! This is absolutely not on and the most ridiculous way to play golf and should not be allowed let alone encouraged on a golf course. This basically ruined the start and most of the rest of our round as we had to wait and wait and wait at every single hole while these idiots hacked about the course sharing clubs. I’ve got nothing else to add that is remotely positive for this round after this. Steer clear of this course unless you are willing to be squeezed in between hundred of other golfers and to stand at every tee box for more than 8 minutes. Personally I just see it as greed from the pro shop and no respect for other paying customers
A slow Sunday afternoon
The course was generally ok , some of the greens had a few problems , but the course was not too bad .
Play was painfully slow though !!
Well worth the money
Course in great shape, green are perfect and for £18 have to be the best value Course around.
Much better pace
Saturday's golf was much better pace as there was not so many people playing golf, don't know why. Course was playing well and the staff are always friendly. I have said it before they should have a halfway house so that you can get a drink or something to eat, they would make a fortune.
I also broke under 100 for the first time, happy days
Good course but too many golfers and dog walkers
We booked our round at 5:07pm thinking there wouldn’t be many other golfers playing at that time so we would have a fairly undistracted round and be able to finish in good time before nightfall and judging by the tee sheet online it didn’t appear to be so. However when we got to the course - well in advance of our tee time - we saw loads of groups of golfers being squeezed out in front of us meaning our tee time was then pushed back and we were going to end up being squashed behind a whole load of other golfers . This was extremely frustrating and when we questioned the lady in the shop she wasn’t very polite to us. If people can just walk on and pay and play at any time with no regards to staggered tee times then this defeats the whole point of having an online booking system and means the course will just become overcrowded. Not a happy bunny suffice to say as this got us off to a bad start before we had even hit a ball! Then we ended up being behind the slowest bunch of golfers I have ever had the displeasure of being behind, none of them with any golf etiquette or manners whatsoever. They could see us waiting on every tee behind them but refused to let us play through . The pace of play for twilight golf was simply ridiculous and this ended up ruining our golf having to wait on every single tee box for more than 5 minutes each time and probably added another hour to our round! Coupled with this there are far too many non golfers either lounging around on the fairways or walking their dogs, all the while putting their own selves at risk of being hit with a golf ball and oblivious to actual golfers playing on the course . This is surely an accident waiting to happen!!! Something should be done about this
Chingford Golf
Overall much better pace, but a slow start as it was busy. Played with two other lads so that helped and course was in good condition
Excellent course and great value
Beautiful parkland course with hundreds of old trees of every variety. Tricky enough course for a great afternoon's golf.
Too many at Chingford
Ridiculous busy to many four balls and nearly 5:30 hours to get round
Grass has been cut but not picked up so you digging up grass cuttings to find your ball
Staff did warn us it was extremely busy, but hey that’s the Council grabbing as much money as they can
Much better
I played at Chingford two weeks ago and it was terrible, very wet and unplayable which meant I had to give up after two holes
But on Saturday the course was in good nic and greens were fast. Disappointed with the number of Four balls but you have to make money I suppose or the course wouldn’t look like it did on Saturday
Great friendly staff, nothing is too much
Decent course
Nice challenging course. Relatively well maintained. A few of the tee boxes were under repair and we were off the astro for the par threes but other wise decent overall. Take a few extra balls because the rough is deep!
Convenient from London and great greens - but that's it
Weather Conditions: Sunny weather but had rained the previous few days.
Course conditions: very wet and splodgey with puddles all long fairways and near greens. Greens held up really nicely and were nice to putt on. 15th tee box was completely out of action. Winter tee boxes good condition vs. other courses I've played, however the actual tee boxes were not good condition (like playing from the rough in some instances, or very muddy)
Course layout - quite short, greens very small. Signposting for tees and holes was very poor
Location - 3 mins walk from Chingford station so very easy to access from Liverpool Street. Don't get misled by the random building opposite the station it's further down on the corner of the main road.
Overall - Convenient course to play for beginners, notably the greens were surprisingly receptive. However the rest of the course is not in good condition I didn't enjoy the course that much. I didn't get the feeling of lots of variety on the layout or challenge, even if the conditions allowed for a less splodgey experience. Play was quite slow to begin, after 9 holes it cleared up significantly.
Very disappointing @ Chingford Golf Course
Now this is no reflection on GolfNow but the course was not playable. There was loads of service water, greens were flooded and too many four balls. Either they set a limit of four balls or shut the course altogether it was so so wet. I only done 9 holes in 3.30 hours. I have played this course many times and this was my worst experience
Remains excellant value
Good to see more drainage work on 1st tee.
Course in general draining much better than others nearby.
The winter mats are also good compared to those in use elsewhere - hopefully not in use for much longer.
Chingford Golf course
Great value, staff are expectational and was ready for a muddy game. They should have a halfway house though
