Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Great public course in Round Rock
Forest Creek is a challenging but fun course and is always in good condition. Even in the middle of the summer in TX, when many courses are struggling to keep their greens, Forest Creek is great. The fairways and greens were great. The only criticism is that there is not much sand in the bunkers which makes recovery tough (simple solution... Don't hit it into the bunker). Forest Creek is one of my favorite courses in the area. I highly recommend it.
This course is a good test for your game
Well maintained. Very nice fairways. Excellent greens. They roll true. Practice area well laid out. Staff have always been very friendly and helpful .
Very nice course
This course was in very good to excellent condition. It was our first time to play there and some local knowledge would help with the layout. There are some blind shots, doglegs and hidden trouble if you do not know the layout. We will play there again for sure it is a great value.
Will go back again and again
It has been several years since I played Forrest Creek. Last time I played, the course wasn't in great shape. It was ok, just not great. After playing yesterday, I rank it as one of my favorites in the Round Rock. From Tee to Green, the course was lush and beautiful. I hope you like trees, because this course has a lot of them. It isn't very forgiving if you miss-hit to the right or left. It definitely will bring new meaning to the term "Fairways and Greens". It's not impossible, though. I may play a few times a year, and I still shot less than 100.
Overall, this was an awesome course.
Course is in great shape
The course is in great shape heading into the Central Texas Amateur at the end of June. Great value for the money.
Forest Creek
Forest Creek was a fun course in great shape. Played on a Friday afternoon and yet it was not crowded - was able to play at our pace. The course had several hard bending dog legs. Fairways are wide enough but when the ball was is the rough it was difficult to hit - thick & deep bermuda (guess that's what a rough is suppose to be like).
It's a good course, but there are a few others in Austin that I enjoy more.
course ingood shape
As i found the golf corse in good shape and fun to play i was taken back by the desire to rush the players on the tees so fast that it couses a backup so the day was not as enjoyable as it could have been. They must remamber we are only ametures!
Memorial Day
Over all golfing conditions were only fair because of all the rain that day, but I was really impressed with the quality of the course considering the course had taken at least 1.5 inches of rain throughout the day. Greens were in pretty good shape. We got on the course via one of the "hot deals", so the quality of golf we got for our money was ideal. Would definitely would play again for the same price.
Very bumpy greens
Very bumpy greens. The driving range is in terrible conditions in fact that might be an understatement. They had two guys picking balls by hand. No cart girl on a busy Sunday. Course layout is great but the course is in desperate need of some TLC. If its not a hot deal it's not worth the money at all.
One of the toughest in Austin
Excellent staff and pricing from Golf Now for 52 dollars. The course itself is in average to above average condition but is definitely on par with where it should be for a public course. The greens are in good shape right now and are almost always in good shape as I have played this for a few years. The course is very tight and has multiple trees in the right spots that make you have to play to a specific side of the fairway to have a good angle to the green. If you are not a single digit player, prepare to lose some balls here more than most places. It is definitely a course to not miss and play if you visit Austin. The driving range is on par with a public course and there is a 50 yard separate practice green to hit to. Only complaint you might have here is the local golfers can hit in to you. (happened yesterday) I definitely recommend this course however.
Very well maintained!
Although I would have liked to have been there earlier, I was stuck in traffic on my way to the course and showed up right at my tee time. While checking in at the pro shop I was greeted rather rudely by the young man working the counter who said I needed to catch the group that teed off 10 min prior or I would not be able to play. I rushed to tee off and catch them. There was no one behind us the entire round! Not exactly a relaxing first 9 holes. Other than that the course is in excellent condition and would highly recommend.
Good course in Northeast Austin area.
Nice course in home community. Greens were recently seeded so not great but fairways and tee boxes were good for early in the season. Some bunkers were like hitting off hard dirt. Houses are far enough back to not be a problem on most tee shots. Good layout that makes you think your way around the course with some blind tee shots and extreme doglegs. Will play again.
Good value but slow play
Very nice for a public facility but play was much too slow the day we went .
Challenging but fun
This course was the first for me to play since I moved here to RR. It's pricy but it's one of the best courses I've ever played. It's challenges your skills from driving to pitching to your putt. It's very well maintained and the staff is great. I will definitely be my "go to" course.
Very fun and challenging track
This was my first time playing Forest Creek GC and I will definitely return for some more enjoyable rounds! The course is in good shape, even in early April.
About the course: it has a lot of different challenges including lots of sharp dog legs, various water hazards, and strategically located bunkers. It has relatively large greens that aren't too sloped, but provide significant challenges. The fairways are wide on some holes and very narrow on others. Bottom line, there is sufficient variation to keep it exciting.
Conditions: The club house isn't anything special but the staff was very courteous and friendly. The food was good and they have a decent place to have some beers and watch some sports. The course is in good shape. Some tee boxes aren't very flat but the greens were rolling good and fairways were coming in nicely.
Overall, I'd recommend the course to beginners and advanced golfers. Pace of play was about 4 hrs on a Sunday afternoon and it is a nice place to play.
FAST Greens!
Windy day, but biggest problem where the greens. Very fast, compact, no stick on landing, ball would roll and roll. They were probably working on them, but made for a difficult day of play. Also very slow play. Should not take 5 1/2 hours to go 18. We sometimes got stacked up 4 groups deep waiting to tee off at the next hole.
A nice variety of holes
I played the course twice and have enjoyed both experiences. The most recent round was played in very windy conditions and the greens were very difficult. The ball was almost impossible to stop on putts that were downslope and down wind. Even though my score was higher than usual I still enjoyed the round due to the variety of tee shots demanded and a never boring layout.
Fun golf course
I have to say that the course was in better shape this time I played. The greens were very plush and some more forgiving than others. The green speed was good for the average golfer to enjoy, probably rolling at around a 9.5. This course is more of a placement golf course, you need to hit long irons or hybrids off the tee to leave yourself with a good approach shot. Definitely recommend the course to golfers of all levels, as they have good tee selection.
Nice layout
Interesting course challenging layout but not in really good shape
Terrible bunkers
Great course, wrong time of year
I love Forest Creek and always have. This winter has been exceptionally rough on the condition this year. Always worth playing but not at full price right now...
