Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

18th hole Photo submitted by BrandonTuckerGA on 11/13/2016
Wonderful fairway, but green.
It's really great course. Especially fairway is soft and well-maintained. But the green surface is little worse. It's difficult to put smoothly.
really nice course
It's a really nice course with reasonable price. some dog-leg courses are so challenging. higly recommanded.
excellent condition
The course was in really great shape with well-maintained fairways and greens. The grass was as good as you can find, and the greens rolled true, yet quick.
This is my favorite local course because it is always in great shape and presents some challenges to your game.
Great day- greens were smooth but extremely slow . Difficult to gage the speed if putts especially uphill putts.
Nice course- greens were slow - good shape but very slow especially uphill putts- friendly staff
Course in great shape!
Course was in great shape. Fairways were good, greens were great. Tee boxes great. Overall experience was an A.
Great greens, very crowded on Sunday
Enjoyed the course. Very helpful staff. Very crowded as they had two events going so some slow play. Greens were in good shape.
Forest Creek
Forest Creek is a very challenging course if you have not been there before. I played from the tips which is challenging but a lot of the holes twist and turn and if was difficult to judge just how far away the trees were, needless to say a couple holes what I thought were good drives went flying into the trees. Overall good experience and will be back for the good price. I do have to mention that they have the worst marshals I have seen, pace of play was great not much waiting at all but the marshals definitely made an impact. For one it was the 1st hole and a marshal couldn't stop by the tee had to keep drifting in his cart within my vision, I had to back away and reset. Not the way you want to start. Then later a different marshal comes flying up to a par 3 tee box and instead of going around us with plenty of room decides to go between us and the tee box and then just stop to watch the shot, person I was playing with dropped two in the water and was no happy with how the marshal acted. "Why didn't he just keep driving by" was the immediate response after his shots. Just unprofessional for no reason what so ever. Oh well overall very nice and enjoyable, definitely tricky for the first time.
This course needs some attention from the greens keeper!
This is one of my favorite courses. I have played it off & on for 4+ yrs. It is headed downhill if it does not get any attention. Once it was pristine. Now it is in a bad state of disrepair. It looked more like a municipal course. Everywhere I looked from the driving range, putting green, cart paths, bald dirt areas, very poor maintenance overall. I don't know if they suffer from a lack of water or what. All the ponds seem to be overflowing with water, but course was extremely dry. I won't be back until I here it has turned around.
fun, but tough course
this is a tough course. lots of trees and hazards and tight greens. but it is a fair layout that can really reward you for hitting good shots. overall, it is a very good course to play.
the two downsides i've run into multiple times here are 1) slow play - this weekend played nearly a 5 hr round, and 2) not very friendly staff. i wouldn't say they are unfriendly, but they seem to get chippy.
also had the misfortune of being paired up with a group that was constantly playing music in their cart, which was fairly annoying.
Not All That
Based on their website I expected this to be a great course, however, when I got there I was truly disappointed. The staff was not all that friendly and the course design and upkeep is not what I would have expected for a top tier public course.
Good value, moderately challenging course with well maintained greens
I am always impressed with how well the greens are maintained at this city course. The staff is helpful and we always receive a good golf experience for the dollars spent here. I definitely would recommend Forest Creek for anyone looking for a good golf value.
A challenging course in great shape, with more than enough bang for your buck!
Great challenging course! Plush fairways with fast maintained greens. Be prepared to bring your A game!
Good shape, but slow and tough
Course is normally in good shape. We played on a sunday and it was about a 5 hr round. Course is pretty tough and there are lots of layup holes. If you are not familiar with the course, this can lead you to hitting through fairways and getting your golf ball in trouble.
The variety in the different holes.
This course is in need of a lot of work, as are many courses in TX, mostly because of the draught.
Crowded but gorgeous
Loved everything about this place, I've been to about 8 courses and this was exceptional on all counts. Slow going due to beautiful day and full booking, but loved it!!!
Bargain with GolfNow deals
Their rates seem high, but it's a bargain with the deals I get through the site.
Lots of tight fairways that force the average golfer to hit irons off the tee. Missing the fairway by even a couple yards will often put you in the trees with no good line to punch out.
It's really one of my favorite courses to play in Austin, though it's not as pristine as some.
Always if great condition
Well maintained course, great staff, good food and super practice facilities. For the money, Forest can't be beat. Greens were absolutely pristine. Go play Forest Creek, you won't be disappointed. Great layout.
Several interesting holes
ovearall a good value for the money, especially for a moderately high handicap golfer.
Great hilly course
This course is a very hilly course with almost no flat hole. Not only you're always hitting up or down hill but fairways almost always slope away to creek. You must be a very accurate player to play there without losing a ball.Lots of dogleg left or right where you should try to work the ball on either side. well maintained course and very friendly staff and very well priced too. Much more interesting than other higher priced courses as grey rock, Tera vista.
Narrow Course with lots of trees - a good challenge
I played this course on a monday afternoon and sped through with one other player. I am a fairly novice golfer so found the tight fairways and change in slope to be pretty difficult. That being said, it did force me to be more thoughtful with my shots ( including putting away my driver on several par 4's and 5's ) . The course was in great shape minus a few greens that could use work. I enjoyed the day thoroughly and wish I would have kept more in play. Shot in the low 90's because the woods ate alot of my balls, but thats how life goes for a beginner sometimes! Good course would play again with friends of my own skill level.
