Beautiful Course
This is a beautiful course with some spectacular holes.
Great condition too for the late summer time of playing.
The only thing that lets this course down, and I’m being hyper critical here, is that some of the direction arrows to the next hole weren’t there. Like I say though this is being hyper critical and I would still give this course a maximum 5⭐️.
Always a banger
Played this course many times
Top 2 I’ve played in Leeds
Course in great condition
Greens play true
Fairways and bunkers excellent
Rough differentiation difficult to see but plays quite easily. Heavy rough is punishing but makes up for easy rough lengths.
Average pace of the play but usually a lot quicker, very busy bank holiday.
Range and practice areas perfect. Price increase at the range is shocking. Wike ridge includes top tracer for the same price.
Overall fantastic course, all homes are interesting with own challenges and rare to have similar shots needed.
Good course for shot shapers and long hitters off the whites. Beautiful putting greens roll true to eye. Will always return
Lovely course
£30 for this course is a belting price. Great little course, some lovely holes where you have to plot your war around. Four of us played it for the first time and loved it, would definitely play again.
Well laid out course
Spacious fairways. Some testing and interesting holes. Played as a two ball which predictably was slow. The weather was good which helped ease the pain. Course was in excellent condition.
Course in great condition
Very happy with the overall condition of the course , especially as we have had very little rain for some time . The greens are lush and running well
Nice fairways but sandy greens
Fairways are coping well with the dry weather and are quite green. However, recent tining and the usual addition of sand to the greens made putting difficult. Putts were often slower than expected or knocked offline by the tining holes. There seemed to be lots of sand at the side of greens as well. Overall, a really nice course with some challenging holes.
Poor Greens
Disappointed that the Greens were being treated, spiked and covered in sand. Wasn't informed of this when I checked in at the pro's shop to pick up a scorecard.
In August you expect the Greens to be immaculate, like at every other private course I've played at since the beginning of May.
Layout, staff, price good... course condition poor
First time playing the course, on what was a busy Saturday. Pace of play however was fantastic and the course layout meant there were only 1/2 holes where we had to wait on the tee boxes.
HOWEVER, the course condition I felt was poor, the greens were bumpy as they had recently aerated the greens. The holes were still very visable and sadly changed the course of the ball as it was putted. They were also extremely sandy, making the greens very slow and very difficult to play on.
The cut between the fairway and the rough and greens were not obvious, i would say fairways were too long and the greens as i said before were poor.
Sadly these made, what could have been a fantastic round, much work. Some better course maintenance would make a huge difference and really make the course stand out.
I will play again in the future to see if these issues have been rectified and i just got unlucky,
A real Yorkshire gem
First time playing cookridge hall and was really impressed.
Firstly all staff and other golfers were welcoming and helpful, the days course info highlighted on arrival, which at the time was told the greens had been hollow-tined, expected this time of year.
It obviously effected the run of the greens but as the rest of the course is immaculate we wasn’t too fussed. Honestly everything about cookridge is high class for what it cost to play, a variation of challenging holes and reachable par 4’s which adds a lot of risk/reward. Can’t wait to go back and so booked our society day there in a few weeks. They have everything to offer for anyone looking for full membership or the casual round.
Disappointing
Really disappointed to turn up and find that every single green was under maintenance and completely unplayable, despite no warning on their website or social media and no discounted rates. At its best cookridge is a great course but certainly won’t be returning anytime soon.
Not a boring hole !
Managed to book a game on a Saturday afternoon which was nice. Staff were very friendly although we didn’t have time to use off course facilities.
What a beautiful course as stated there wasn’t a boring hole throughout. Course was in great condition greens were fantastic. This is a course to enjoy the walk also with great scenery.. will be playing again very soon.
Cookridge
At this time of year Cookridge has to be one of the best course in North Leeds for your money.
Disappointing
Expecting (hoping for) half as good as Headingley was probably unrealistic and perhaps naive. Fairways were brown and hard with the recent dry, hot weather - to be expected. Many of the tees were uneven - sloped this way and that - and actually a disgrace. Greens were long and slow and lacked definition, untidy fringes - the greenkeepers mustn’t have been out for days. There were no distance markers on the fairways and a few tees lacked signposts, e.g. 12 (we’d teed up on 14 when we realised 12 wasn’t a par 3). The signature hole, 18, which looks good on the pictures is Mickey Mouse. The course was scruffy in places and generally had a municipal feel to it, winter tees scattered about and public footpaths with plenty walking across and a couple of Gypsies on scooters. Clearly it gets some right hammer but could be much better. A chap (member) behind me in the shop had an apparent attitude towards visitors, his general demeanor and determination to get in front of me to the drinks fridge before I could be served - from conversations we heard on the practice green he may well have been the captain! Jamie behind the counter was pleasant when I reported an issue with the buggy, it wasn’t charged enough so died on us after 12 holes. Disappointing all round and we wouldn’t return.
