Lovely but very hard!
Played Drayton many times and it's definitely one of the best courses in the area. It's a well run club and always very busy. It's got all the facilities you can think of and even got top tracer at the range now. As for the course it's definitely the hardest I've ever played. The hardest part for me is the fact that if you ever so slightly hit a poor shot that misses left or right your ball is simply lost there's no other way round it. Everywhere seems to be just covered in trees and bushes and there are also a load of bunkers and water hazards to watch out for. But if you are a decent golfer there's no doubt you'll love this course. Always seems to be in perfect condition and there are some extraordinary holes. Number 4 tricky par 3 over water, number 6 long par 5 with 2 separate fairway ditches to be aware of, number 9 par 4 that cuts across a farmer's field and then doglegs left and number 15 is the typical water on the left water on the right par 4 narrow fairway with the green absolutely surrounded by like 5 bunkers! Highly recommended this course particularly to decent golfers.
Hidden gem
For the time of year the greens and tee boxes were in great condition and greens running well for the time of year. Overall great day and will be back soon again
Pleasantly surprising
Hadn't played the course for many years so I was pleasantly surprised by how much it had changed. Condition was go with the fairways quite green after the dry weather. The greens were excellent and held the ball well, the tees were quite good and no doubt will get better with future rain.
Course layout was better than I remembered but there are a couple of holes that could be better.
All in all a very pleasant afternoons golf. Worth a visit.
Nice course
Nice course . Great condition greens are excerlent . Great layout of course no two holes are same . No up down holes. Easy to play. .... Just play and enjoy.
Drayton
I and a colleague played from 2-6. Tricky course as we lost several balls. Very nice course and will come again.
Course in very good condition
The course had been closed for a few days due to the recent snow and this was the first day it had been open. I was anticipating less than perfect course conditions but was surprised to find the course in near perfect condition, fairways and green were not at all wet. The course played well, shame I didn't.
Good course
Course was in great condition especially the green and teeboxs for the time of year. Defiantly looking to go back again.
Drayton Park
Friendly staff on arrival and would highly recommend the course as it was well maintained and the greens were exceptionally good.
Excellent Condition
The course is in excellent condition, very good fairways and greens. Some very interesting and testing holes. Well worth a visit, tee off time was early afternoon, very quite, so no hold ups.
A hidden gem
I was a little worried when the golf pro said that hedgehog wheels were mandatory, luckily I had a set with me. However I needn't have worried, the course was in superb condition. No mud anywhere and the fairways were totally dry. This is a great course with some interesting holes. The 9th is a case in point, the tee box faces a hedge with a farmers field on the other side, you have to clear the corner of the field to reach the fairway. Finding some of the tees is a little tricky, I managed to play back down the 6th after the 8th, I thought it looked familiar! It was very quiet, no one ahead or behind me, even though I had a mid morning tee. Speaking with one of the members, it seems that Tuesdays and Thursdays are very quiet. Will be returning soon.
