This was a destination golf club for me and my best man, a middle ground between where we both live.
Upon arrival we spent 10 min searching for a member of staff in what seemed to be the main clubhouse - turns out the pro shop is in the driving range adjacent to the main building
We were then told we had been paired up to make a 4 ball, which without any notice was a bit disappointing. However no one turned up to pair with us at our tee time, so we teed off and were underway
The course itself is fine, the A34 running alongside it does ruin the scenery a bit, as do the large electrical pylons that criss cross the course
Lots of par 3's and short par 4's, nothing of note really. Apart from how often you cross paths on this tight and overlapping course
Cheap and cheerful, nothing more
Unfortunately I doubt we would re-visit anytime soon.
Great day
Course was great including the greens well recommended even though I had a nightmare that was down to me not the course, hope to play more there.
Worst course ever played
I have played around 200 courses around UK and most of the rest of the world. This has to be the worst ever. Staff in pro shop at check in were friendly and helpful but very much downhill when we got out on the course. No decent golfer minds a tough challenge but this course is a total joke!! Sorry people in Oxfordshire, but if this I’s the only place you get to play, I feel sorry for you!!
Solid Course
Good solid course offering some challenging holes and excellent value for money. The practice facilities have been upgraded and the driving range has added ball tracking software (at no additional cost).
Drayton Park
Played as a 2 ball staff great and course in great nick, greens super fast. Enjoyed it, great value.
Too slow pace of play
I gave up play after 11th due to extremely slow playing. Can’t enjoying play golf and will never play again here.
Great course
Will 100% be playing at Drayton more PGA’s just moves 10 minutes from the course and by far one of the best courses I have played
Walked off after 4 hours and only being on the 14th hole
As the title states pace of play today was poor. To me felt like it over booked held up on every hole. Gave up after walking to the 14th and two 4balls and a 3 ball in front. Not once didn’t anyone offer to let you get ahead.
On the plus side the course was nice well maintained. Shame we didn’t get to play the rest.
Top course
Course in really good nick with challenging greens. Interesting layout with holes that can be played in different ways. Really good value for money and would definitely return.
Lovely but very hard!
Played Drayton many times and it's definitely one of the best courses in the area. It's a well run club and always very busy. It's got all the facilities you can think of and even got top tracer at the range now. As for the course it's definitely the hardest I've ever played. The hardest part for me is the fact that if you ever so slightly hit a poor shot that misses left or right your ball is simply lost there's no other way round it. Everywhere seems to be just covered in trees and bushes and there are also a load of bunkers and water hazards to watch out for. But if you are a decent golfer there's no doubt you'll love this course. Always seems to be in perfect condition and there are some extraordinary holes. Number 4 tricky par 3 over water, number 6 long par 5 with 2 separate fairway ditches to be aware of, number 9 par 4 that cuts across a farmer's field and then doglegs left and number 15 is the typical water on the left water on the right par 4 narrow fairway with the green absolutely surrounded by like 5 bunkers! Highly recommended this course particularly to decent golfers.
Hidden gem
For the time of year the greens and tee boxes were in great condition and greens running well for the time of year. Overall great day and will be back soon again
