Great value
Great course, nice design (lots of doglegs!) and well kept. Clubhouse is nice too, staff welcoming and the members are friendly. Highly recommended
Course review
This is a nice course the people that run it are friendly polite and welcoming. The course is well played out with some really nice holes and some are very challenging for higher handicappers. However the only complaint I do have are most of the bunkers not only were not pre-raked but the conditions were aweful. If they spent some time on the bunkers then it would be a very good course
Greens
Have played this course twice now and have enjoyed it both times. Some pin positions were a little tricky but fun. Greens were quick and although my putting was rubbish I enjoyed it. Nice variety of holes. Will definitely play again.
Course
Course in terrible condition and definitely not worth £31
First impressions excellent
Not played before and I must admit on arrival was impressed by the setting of the course.
Arrived to early to check-in at the club shop, so straight to 1st tee. Pace of play was good, 3 h.30m for a round.
Green's improved as the morning sun removed the heavy dew and by half way had become quick and true. Course layout is good with wide fairways but random established trees that can cause a rethink on your next shot. Good value for money.
Stay away?
If you love being ankle deep on mud, losing plugged balls and the fairways and light rough, and also having more bumps per putt than Tiger has car wrecks, come and play ant Duxbury
Shocking conditions for early April. Carnt see it getting much better in the summer
Avoid!
This is the second time I have attempted to play Duxbury and on both occasions the course has been awful.
Admittedly there was rain the previous night but we are talking pathways totally bogged down and balls being lost due to plugging on the fairways (yes the fairways). This course should have been closed it was so bad but instead I wasted £36 on the golf and nearly 5 hours navigating through mud and slop.
Fellow golfers do yourself (and your shoes) a favour and stay clear of this farmers field of a golf course.
Mud Bath
This course plays like its got zero drainage. Shocking sloppy mud in and around the access to the tee boxes and walking off like and assault course. Terrible. wellies are advisable in these areas, and this is not being sarcastic
Not only do most of the fairways have atleast one area of wet ground, ive never lost so many balls plugging on the fairway or just off. Greens are lumpy, no real point in taking aim past 6 yards.
At a loss how to recommend how to improve this track. Maybe just make all aware of the conditions and lower the price when its playing like Glastonbury.
Second Chance
Gave this course a second chance due to poor weather last time. Weirdly we have had a week of great weather and if anything it was worse. Boggy everywhere pretty much, tee boxes not great. Greens were ok but everywhere else you were struggling.
Tee times don’t seem to be monitored as groups just turning up and starting.
Would not be booking again.
Beautiful setting and great course layout
Very popular course, great layout but slightly boggy in places, condition is really good considering all of the rainfall we have had lately and the club house is really friendly. Will definitely play here again the scenery is lovely and so tranquil.
Lovely little course
Great little course little heavy underfoot but the greens where in decent condition and some challenging holes
Boggy
Played before in warmer months and really enjoyed it . This time around really boggy in places. Long round build up in play.
Still a descent course and challenge would not put me off going again just bad weather.
Been a few years
Bit boggy in some places but it’s understandable due to the amount of rain we ve.
Course should of been closed
Great track but given how waterlogged it was it should have been shut.
Wide Open
Given playing in the winter and the rain has been relentless recently, this is a great course, wide open so there’s almost always a shot to be played. One or two wet fairways but can be expected with the weather.
