Good Course with good mix of holes
Kept in great condition, with lots of recent tidying up over Covid period, this is a great downland course, with all that goes with that e.g. wind, rolling fairways, fast run offs.
Definitely is one of my top picks of downland golf courses.
E Brighton in the rain
Fairways, greens and bunkers all in v. Good condition.
Only downside was the rain and you can't blame the course for that.
Would have rated five stars but have played there once before aug 2019 and had argument with two groups of members who had stopped for food at the halfway house and arrogantly insisted that we had to wait for them even though there is clearly a sign which says golfers not sopping for refresemts mist be invited to play thru.
No probs yesterday as the weather kept the members away.
Great course and great variety when the wind blows
Quite still this time but what wind was from the north west. Made back 6 holes fairly easy but into the wind on 2nd to 4th and 6th to 11th into the wind which include Stroke index 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8. After the rain the course grass was lush, i.e. very few bare patches and greens very true if not a little long. Average speed - stimp 8 or 9. Lovely views over Brighton and the Marina
Challenging Course
East Brighton is a challenge to golfers of all handicaps but offers a fair test.
The more you play this course the more you realise how course management is. High handicappers play to get on those par 4s in three and you will pick up points. Attack and see where you end up!
Challenging Course
Challenging course with some long holes but none the less a good course for low and medium handicappers.
You get the best out of the course once you have played it a few times as laying up in the right places is serious advantage.
Add the fantastic views and you will keep on coming back.
Stunning scenery and a great challenge
This course has the best collection of par 3 holes I can remember. The design varies from true links to Downland over different sections of the course and is engaging at all times. There are a couple of holes toward the end which get a bit confusing on where to play to if you’re a first timer, we actually played toward one green before realising it was the wrong one, but that’s the nature of links style set ups. A memorable round of golf.
Very impressed
It was the first time I’ve played on this course, I’m from the local area and have heard good things. I’ve played lots of courses around the downs area and this was up there with the best of them. Holds a real challenge against some of the weather conditions and the layout of the course certainly keeps you on your toes! Was kept in very good condition the tee’s and fairways were immaculate, and the greens ran perfectly. Will definitely be going back
A Challenge
A very nice course, a beautiful layout down in the valley, and then an uphill hole to the course halfway hut to refresh for beautiful scenes to bring you back in to the clubhouse! Would definitely recommend!
Scenic serenity
Played on a hot, partly cloudy day.
First hole takes you up the hill to a level where you can begin enjoying the views in most directions.
Tee off at the 5th into the valley below and you then enter the serene part of the course where you feel you could easily be on a course in another part of the world. At times the pure silence breaks your concentration, take a moment to enjoy the wonder.
Now the fundamentals....
Generally the fairways are wide enough to be forgiving and the rough, on the whole, is soft and wispy.
The greens are in good condition and quite fast.
The bunkers are pretty solid underneath a thin layer of soft sand.
Some holes require course knowledge as you are driving blindly over ridges.
The halfway hut is open and you can order before you tee off On the 9th, using your mobile, and it will be ready for when you come off the 9th green.
I will definitely be returning.
A Little Gem
First time on this course. Pro shop very helpful, course in good condition for January, some lovely driving holes. Greens and tees very good. half way house open selling bacon and sausage sandwiches, great!
Only problem was the fog! We couldn;t see in front of us after 14 holes!
Would recommend this course without hesitation
Interesting track with exceptional panoramic views
The course is always fun to play, with interesting challenging holes, intriguing elevation changes, and sensational views across the coast and countryside. Due to its location, it drains fantastically and is usually in better condition than most other courses in the vicinity, giving all year round playability. The club is friendly and welcoming, and a visit is definitely recommended.
Glorious
Glorious weather matched by course in glorious condition, although wind prevented glorious scores
Sandy Balls
Course generally in good nick but greens have been treated recently and now quite sandy which made them a bit unpredictable. Halfway house bacon sarny made up for that though
Great winter course
Excellent course great place to play in the winter the course is never wet. Had a great game
Nearly blown away!
Have played this course many times now. Greens were a problem a couple of months ago but now impeccable. Fairways however are not - many bald patches and consequent uneven lies. We played in a gale -40 mph winds which adds to the challenge but still a fantastic course to visit
