Frodsham golf
Course was well looked after greens were in great condition some of the bunkers needed work course a good test for mid handicap golfers
Neglected course
Zero facilities, no staff, couldnt even get a scorecard. Greens in poor condition, all bunkers overgrown and full of weeds. Fairways hand been cut in a while.
Such a Shame.
I've played this course five times since August but unfortunately it has declined in condition each time due to lack of maintenance, the condition its in now is almost unplayable with the rough being so long its impossible to find a ball in it. Bunkers are overgrown with weeds and several fairways have been damaged by badgers. The course went to "pay and play" status a while back which is a shame if it was due to lack of members and there are currently no facilities available as the new clubhouse hut is closed. The course needs investment to make it playable again, hopefully it will get this investment in the future.
Turned up to a closed club house with no directions or signage on display etc. Had to ask in the children's nursery next door where to go for parking. No course card available. Some greens unplayable and all bunkers full of weeds.
Frodsham
1st time back here in over a year tee boxes were a joke bunkers had weeds growing out of them no sand and greens were long really poor standard atm would not recommend shame was a really good course
Frodsham
If this course was maintained properly, it would be a lovely place to play. Lovely surroundings, but the general state of the course was poor.
Frodsham Course needs work
Booked an 8.16am saturday tee time on golf now as played the course earlier in the year and even tho work was being done was a decent knock. I was hoping to find a course well looked after and newly done up. How wrong I was.
Arrived and nowhere to get scorecards, no clubhouse and no pros, no real sign of life other than other golfers arriving and as bemused as me as to why we have paid.
Then on the course, for a start the tee boxes were never level and bobbly. bunkers had grass growing in solid concrete sand-we had to agree all bunkers were gur. And then when we got on the greens and to stand a chance of holing it we had to ensure the ball would fly past the hole as the grass was fairway length and held any decent putts up. The 6th and 7th over the road seemed better but then back over the road went downhill again. Really frustrating considering our 3 ball all travelled a bit out the way to play it.
I'm off the understanding that it's for sale and is desperately in need of someone to do it up or put it out of its misery. Such a shame really as its a great location and course layout is really good. Even the pace of play was surprisingly fast.
All in all I wish I could claim a refund from golf now if I'm honest. I play a lot of golf and do a lot of courses (see my insta glgraw) however I must rank this the worst course I have played to date.
dreadful!
Wasnt worth getting out of bed for! course was rubbish and greens were terrible, like the bloody fairways they were! pace of play was shocking and about 3 different groups on one hole and seemed like no knew the rules as they wernt waiting to take there shot and still hitting it when people were in front!
no organisation at all, wont be returning!
Poor condition
Obviously the situation and economic condition are reflected of the course.
Excellent layout but lack of maintenance made the visit a little disappointing.
Just needs so money and TLC
This course used to be one of my favourite courses to play but it's been allowed to fall into such decline. All it needs is decent green keeping team and some money spending on it and it would easily get back to being a very good course.
Neglected Gem
I felt like I was putting into Ann Widdecombe‘s belly button on these greens. More lumps and dry patches than the STD clinic. The bunkers on the Somme have had more attention over the last year.
No clubhouse, only a shed. The poor fella who was working out of it didn’t even have any bottles of water to sell us.
Lovely layout lots of potential, shame. .
I didn’t expect the world for £15 on a Friday afternoon but basic amenities would have been nice.
Need a buggy
Some lovely holes and scenery, course layout not great ,signage to next hole a bit random.
Needs work
Fantastic course with amazing views. Just needs a lot of work. Greens very overgrown and tough because of it. Course itself is very nice to play and would definitely be back. Could see it being a very premium course with some proper upkeep
Very deflated round versus previous experiences
Took a friend out round here after having him travel up from down south. Previous times I played here were very impressive, club house, facilities, course all in good condition. Today was completely the opposite. Greens the same length as fairways and definitely not cut, moss growing through and what looked like disease growing through on many. Bunkers completely unplayable and should have been GUR. No markers to distance front of centre of the green and tees which were just unkempt. I apologised to my friend for what was supposed to be a very pleasant round...it was not.
Former great course now falling into disrepair
This course was fantastic a few years ago. Recently suffered from COVID furlough, apparently, and now looking very much under-cared for. The greens have been 'lost' at some point and now resemble thick carpet with weeds. Fairways are ropey and bunlers full of stones. Some tees overgrown. The clubhouse is now a children's nursery, so no pre or after round facilities. Currently the whole course and set up is up for sale, apparently. What a great pity!
Great course in need of some TLC
Apparently this course is not as good as it used to be. That said it was good value and will be returning soon. The greens were slow and in patchy in places but the fairway s were generally good
Sad
This is a pretty course with lovely views but due to the financial mess the club appears to be in there is almost no maintenance. These are not really greens they are what your back garden would feel like if you worked hard on it for a month. There is rubbish everywhere and the fairways look a mess. I felt for the guy collecting the money/bookings in a tiny shed. He was very friendly but must be embarrassed at the state of the course
