Golfer Reviews
Lovely course
I've wanted to play Hartlepool GC for a while now and didn't think twice about booking a round after I saw it on GolfNow for the very reasonable price of £40, and despite the weather forecast looking pretty miserable I looked forward to first tee.
Turns out the weather forecast was completely wrong and we had a near perfect day with very little wind and no rain at all, the course itself was in fantastic condition and as I was walking around I didn't think there looked to be many hazards but oh boy was I wrong, from the numerous well placed bunkers, to the blind tee shots to the areas of rough that didn't look that bad from a distance...until you got close and realised it was worse than it looked.
The course layout was fantastic with a great range of holes, from the short par 3's to the blind shot into the the green on the 10th, really enjoyed the hole round and the staff were fantastically friendly as well, especially one gentleman who I later found out was the club captain.
Cannot recommend this course enough, if you've been thinking about playing, just book a round...youwon't be disappointed.
A game of two halves
This a good course well worth a visit it starts a bit flat but long then turned into a good undulating link's course. Excellent greens. A fair test of golf.
Breezy Day
After a very wet winter it’s good to play a course that isn’t soft and soggy. Greens are in very good condition and the course is well maintained.
Overall a challenging course on a breezy day.
What a great find .
I travel all over the UK and play at least one course a week for £25. This is, by far, the best course I've played for that money in a long time. Yes, it's on some winter tees, and yes, it's on mats, but it's clear to see why the tee boxes are in great shape, ready for the season. This truly is a hidden gem of a links course. I was really fortunate on the day I played; the sun was out, but it was windy. As a member of a links course in Kent, I'm no stranger to links. The first 8 holes are the calm before the storm; from 9 to 18, there are some of the best links golf holes available in that price range. The staff have done an amazing job keeping the course in shape. I'm eagerly looking forward to playing in the summer for a true test of the back tee boxes, where I fully expect a different challenge. 10/10.
Lovely well maintained course
Played first week in February and the course was in excellent condition. Highly recommend
Enjoyed the course just very slow pace of play as there was a lot of people.
Great greens
Played for £20 on a hot deal. Course is great value, cracking layout. Some stunning holes alongside the beech. Considering the rain we have had recently the greens were amazing. 10/10.
Golf by the sea
Booked a 12.00 tee time so needed to be quick to get finished in the light. Need not have worried as pace of play was excellent. Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain there has been recently. Greens were also very good, consistent and true. Off the green tees with teeing up on the fairway which helps maintain the condition of the course.
Everyone very friendly and helpful.
All in all an excellent days golf on a great golf course.
The bar was also good, very welcoming and comfortable.
Great course conditions, exceptionally dry given the recent heavy rain. Greens were fantastic, rolling true and quick for the time of year and poor weather. Driving range had run out of balls so unable to use this prior to the round, however the pro in the shop gave us a voucher for free balls next time we visit. Small chipping area and practice green were in good condition. Staff in the pro shop were friendly and welcoming
Excellent links course
Excellent links course, played off the green winter tees and it had some some really interesting holes, particularly the par 3s over ravines and the 10th hole were all superb. The greens were in excellent condition throughout. Great value for £25, would love to pay again in the summer and will happily pay the summer fees
A very unforgiving course
A decent course but not for the faint hearted, the wind off the sea and a few blind shots make this course really fit the 10 and below players.
Great fun
I've only been playing golf for a few months mainly on public courses so was not sure what to expect.
Staff were helpful when booking in and from first tee of to the 18th this course was on another level the greens were mint and coarse was well sign posted bunker were clean and people were friendly I would definitely going play here again
An incredible experience at a reasonable cost
This was my first experience of links golf and what a course to choose. Really friendly reception both on the phone and in the pro shop. Decent driving range and putting green.
The course is stunning. The stretches from 5-7 and 10-13 felt like something I only see on TV or YouTube so to experience it was jaw dropping. Course was in great condition (although very hard as the temps were below freezing). Great course design and can’t wait to play it again in the summer.
Cold but fun
Lovely course with some great holes around the turn. Played during cold snap so course was frozen in places but with such good views, what a lovely way to spend a winters day! Chips and gravy in the clubhouse were top notch!
Great Course
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Hartlepool. Course was in good condition despite a few days of heavy rain beforehand. All the staff and members were so friendly and helpful.
Very good test of golf, a great layout, a combination of a few inland holes, before you get to the links holes. We played on a sunny day with a gentle breeze, but it was enough to make it a good test. The par 3s in particular were excellent.
Lovely Links course
This is a great little course with several quirky par 3s. Will definitely play again as course knowledge is a wonderful thing. Pro shop and clubhouse in need of a refurb but the course is definitely worth a visit. Friendly members too!
