Situated at the base of the Gore Mountain Range in the Rocky Mountains, Vail Golf Club is a mountain course with beautiful scenery provided by Gore Creek, which meanders through the layout, and the White River National Forest that rests adjacent to it. The golf course features flat, tree-lined fairways and medium-sized greens, both of which are well protected by numerous bunkers. The golf course plays through towering trees that demand accuracy. There are also several beaver ponds throughout the golf course that come into play on several holes. In addition to the scenic round, Vail Golf Club also provides practice facilities including a driving range and putting greens.

Course is fun to play and pace was great. Like many mountain courses, the greens are rough.

Disappointed from a distance

My college roommate and I were celebrating our 60th birthdays with a golf vacation. We traveled from Hilton Head, SC and Washington DC area to Colorado and very much looked forward to playing Vail Golf Club. I set up the tee time a month in advance. The layout of the course and setting were amazing. The entire staff were all extremely friendly.

However, we were very disappointed to find out, upon arrival, that ELEVEN holes had temporary greens. One or two may have been acceptable but certainly not 11. We should have been advised ahead of time and we certainly would have postponed this round.

With limited time, we wanted to experience the best golf possible. Unfortunately, our experience at Vail Golf Club was disappointing and frankly, not worth the price. I also rented clubs, adding to the cost. Most disappointing was the lack of response from emails I sent to the club.

Don’t play

Course condition is Atrocious. I have played this course 10 or more times in previous seasons and the course was always very well maintained. The greens are terrible, the fairways are spotty. Many of the fairways are rippling like the mower made dips but the ground needs grading.

11 temporary greens Will open after the forth and hopefully all greens open then. Played it before. Good enough course rather flat and easy but pretty and affordable. Eagle Vail better but greens in bad shape now

Most greens are not playable

No one told me that 11 of 18 greens are out of commission due to poor winter conditions. Most of the grass died. They replaced them with temporary greens in the middle of the fairway. Impossible to track distances or putt. Not worth the money even if getting good deals with Gold Now

Great Course

Vail Golf Club is an excellent course. Considering there is 4 feet of snow on it 6 months out of the year, it is in great condition.

Very friendly staff and great new Clubhouse.

Fun in the wind

I hadn't played Vail for several years and after the round I couldn't come up with a good reason for not

coming back sooner. The new club house is beautiful

the staff was very friendly. There was a mix up on the tee time. But no problem the staff worked it out for me.

If your in the Vail valley and you don't play Vail CC shame on you. You didn't make the most of you visit.

Spectacular venue! Staff was great!

Early in the season but the golf course was in wonderful shape! , greens were slow but smooth and spectacular shape for May in the Rockies. Incredible views everywhere. Wind was up but still had a blast! Highly recommend this course!

Mediocre Besides A Few Holes

Green fees are high due to the course having a Vail address, nothing to do with the quality of the course. There are absolutely a few cool holes but the maintenance is average and the rest of the holes (about 14 of them) are what you'd find at a Denver Muni. I have no idea why anybody would pay to play here when Eagle Vail is the same price and 10x the golf course this place is.

Course in Rough Shape

Greens were aerated, but many holes not filled with sand, so VERY BUMPY. Also, major construction going on and 10th hole closed. Slow pace of play. Overall, dissatisfied even with discount. Problems were not made known!
