Situated at the base of the Gore Mountain Range in the Rocky Mountains, Vail Golf Club is a mountain course with beautiful scenery provided by Gore Creek, which meanders through the layout, and the White River National Forest that rests adjacent to it. The golf course features flat, tree-lined fairways and medium-sized greens, both of which are well protected by numerous bunkers. The golf course plays through towering trees that demand accuracy. There are also several beaver ponds throughout the golf course that come into play on several holes. In addition to the scenic round, Vail Golf Club also provides practice facilities including a driving range and putting greens.

Great Course

Vail Golf Club is an excellent course. Considering there is 4 feet of snow on it 6 months out of the year, it is in great condition.

Very friendly staff and great new Clubhouse.

Fun in the wind

I hadn't played Vail for several years and after the round I couldn't come up with a good reason for not

coming back sooner. The new club house is beautiful

the staff was very friendly. There was a mix up on the tee time. But no problem the staff worked it out for me.

If your in the Vail valley and you don't play Vail CC shame on you. You didn't make the most of you visit.

Spectacular venue! Staff was great!

Early in the season but the golf course was in wonderful shape! , greens were slow but smooth and spectacular shape for May in the Rockies. Incredible views everywhere. Wind was up but still had a blast! Highly recommend this course!

Mediocre Besides A Few Holes

Green fees are high due to the course having a Vail address, nothing to do with the quality of the course. There are absolutely a few cool holes but the maintenance is average and the rest of the holes (about 14 of them) are what you'd find at a Denver Muni. I have no idea why anybody would pay to play here when Eagle Vail is the same price and 10x the golf course this place is.

Course in Rough Shape

Greens were aerated, but many holes not filled with sand, so VERY BUMPY. Also, major construction going on and 10th hole closed. Slow pace of play. Overall, dissatisfied even with discount. Problems were not made known!

Doesn't get much better than this -

Early October for a mountain course is a hit or miss experience. Vail golf course was in excellent shape! It is a very challenging course with a variety of obstacles. The sand traps were well-maintained and soft (we tried them out just for this review of course). The views are incredible no matter where you are in the course! The staff and friendly and professional. The club house was gone and a temporary starter building was in place. I'm sure the food and beverage service will be excellent when completed.

Golf bike heaven

The Vail Golf Club might be the only walkable course in the valley. Although I love a good walk, next time I'm renting a golf bike. The piece of land is quite flat, so it would be a nice ride between the Rocky Mountain walls framing the setting. If the highway weren't running alongside much of the back nine, providing so much noise pollution, this course would be an awesome mountain getaway. As it is, it's a nice muni kept in good condition with Gore Creek meandering through several holes. A new clubhouse scheduled to be finished by next fall will be a nice addition.

Spectacular views of mountains and Colorado river. This course is well worth the time and cost but beware the wind can be a bugger in the afternoon! A must do while in Vail if you play!

Nice course

Nice course for a town course. Prices are not bad. The only thing is hopefully you are not behind walkers.

Beautiful Mountain Golf Course

As a resident of Illinois I have never seen such a scenic and beautiful setting for a golf course. The course itself looks nice but the mountain backdrop is just phenomenal. Aside from the looks the rest of the course was good to. Moderately challenging but overall fun course with many fun holes. I particularly liked the par 3s with elevated tee boxes. The course was in good shape. Greens were tricky but rolled well. Tee and boxes and fairways were in great shape. Tje staff was nice. They really push for pace of play, and they boast about how they'll have you finish 18 in 4 hrs and 7 min. But even if you play fast don't expect to finish much faster then that because as long as the group ahead of you is keeping is that pace you can't pass them. So we were stuck behind a slower group we couldn't pass. it is expensive but I think worth the price, especially if your on vacation.

Spring conditions

Overall condition of the course was poor. Turf was thin in many areas. Greens were mostly good. Peak season should improve conditioning.

Walked

Finally played Vail

Enjoyed the course . Parkland style golf at 8500 feet. Spring conditions in late May , due to altitude and a very wet weather pattern . We were treated very well by the staff . I was one iron longer , even in the colder air. Great views ...good times.

nice course

Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. Well kept despite it being fairly early in the season. If you like being in one of the most scenic areas in the country, during its down time. The week after Memorial Day is the best if the weather is as compliant as it was when I was there. Being up there just before most stores/restaurants close for the season, when its slow, I thought was fantastic, it made being in a scenic place relaxing too.
