About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Poor fairways
Due to the rainless summer, the fairways are too hard with big cracks- damaging for the clubs and results in thin shots. Back 9 was slightly better. Overall not very well maintained course.
Very slow pace of play.
Expect this to take 5 hours at a minimum to play. The last 3 holes were 90 minutes.
What a golf cart capable for off-road driving... It made thru entire 18 holes in one piece on such bumpy and cracked fairways.
Greens were OK, though.
Greens in great shape
Course was dry but considering the weather very acceptable. Greens were excellent.
Better Than Expected
I have played Greatwood several times but this was my first round this year. My expectations were not high going in due to the extreme heat and no rain that we have been going through here this summer. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised on how the course looked. The practice range had good grass to hit on. The cracks in the ground, while present, are much better than this time last year. The greens played fast and were in good shape.
Overall, course is in good shape given the weather. I believe it holds it own against similarly priced courses.
Confortable option
Easy to play, fairways and greens ok, old carts and no amenities at all.
Tuesday Afternoon at Greatwood GC
This course did not honor TeeOff green fee of $34.64 rather I was charged $37.00 - even after showing TeeOff reservation confirmation with the $34.
Good value
Greens are in pretty good shape. The bunkers need some work. Many golfers leave the rakes in the inside the bunkers.
Overall good value & a challenging course.
Very challenging
Lots of water and sand to make things interesting. Great course.
Great wood in great shape
Threat of rain kept folks away, we were by ourselves!

July 4th at Greatwood
Course conditions were okayed and no problem whatsoever with pace of place. I will be back!
