Course Highlights
Greatwood delivers outstanding value with well-maintained fairways, greens, and challenging island holes that stand out among Houston-area courses. Water hazards and strategic pin placements create an engaging layout that keeps golfers returning.

About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6836 yards
Slope 1308
Rating 72.3

Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.

The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.

Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

New carts

Applaud the efforts to upgrade with new GPS equipped carts but ours and the guy in front of us were malfunctioning, hopefully they can fix that. Lot's of maintenance around the course with cart path only holes made for a slower pace, looking forward to the end result of the work

Greatwood Not so Great

Front 9 ok. But back 9 a nightmare to too much water and too many sand traps. It was very frustrating to hit blind and there’s water.

There’s a huge drainage ditch which winds all around. I am not a long hitter, but come on, from Whites I would have had to lay up. From Womens tee, which I used, I cannot imagine most women even able to hit over.

So close and cost is good, but looks like I have to move on.

ALSO cart kept locking up even when we were in path! They said “we are working on it”.

Excellent course

It's winter time, so the course isn't green. Great condition for the time of year. I imagine the course will be beautiful in the spring. Tough course. Can't wait to return.

Could be great

I love the layout and the staff is super friendly. Unfortunately, the owners keep shrinking the greens and have failed to put ANY TLC into the course in the last 5 years.

Amenities lacking, dry and hard

No water stations and no cart girl, bar at clubhouse lacking food variety. Fairways were very hard. Lots of water on this course. Greens were ok.

Price is Right

The course is a wonderful 18 challenging holes and was generally in good shape. Cart paths are cracked and uneven, but so is every other mature course in this area with oak tree roots spreading out under cart paths and fairways. Negatives: Trash cans throughout the course were overflowing and hadn’t been emptied in days. Golf carts were filthy and full of tobacco cans, wrappers and dirt. Skeleton staff was working hard, but not enough bar staff was on hand to keep up with demand. Starter was very helpful and friendly. Interior of clubhouse is dated, worn, and in need of updating. Glass cupola above the beautiful Christmas Tree is covered in cobwebs and dirt.

Excellent condition, slow play

The greens were fast and in great condition. Fairways and bunkers were excellent as well. The only draw back was slow play on several holes.

No carts

We had a 115pm tee time. On arrival at 1245, there were no carts available. And the 3 groups in front of us had no carts. We finally got a cart that was out of juice at 200pm. We barely finished our round because the no one was monitoring pace of play.

On top of that, the actually grounds and fairways were not taken care of very well. I ve played here several times but this was by far the worst.

Too crowded.

We had to wait for a cart just to get started. When we arrived at the first tee there were two groups stacked up waiting. We played 5 holes in 2 hours. Painfully slow. Whoever is scheduling the tee times is failing. The price is good on golfnow, but it’s still not worth it when you can’t finish 9 holes.
