About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Nice day at the course
Course was in good shape considering amount of recent rains. Pace of play was a bit slow but not so bad that it impact the quality of the play. Was good to see the course restart providing ice water at tee boxes!

Course in decent shape.
Pace of play started slow then picked up then slowed again. We were a 3some and had a 4some in front of us that was playing slow, hitting multiple shots. We had 2somes passing us only to turn around due to the back up ahead. Then a single kindly asked to skip past us. I like Greatwood but some marshals could possibly help improve pace of play.
Wednesday Afternoon at Greatwood
Course condition is reasonable but pace of play was annoyingly slow - had to jump two holes 9 & 10 due to pace of play. Overall value for money is okay
Nice Track
Excellent challenge for players who aren’t big hitters (like me!). Requires a bit of strategy. Greens in good shape!!
Course is slipping big time
Have played here multiple times and the course is going down hill. On the plus side the greens rolled nice, but the course needs some serious attention!
Watch out on number one
This hole generally produces double bogies for me. This senior has trouble clearing water on my second shot, going around to the dry right side beings traps and trees into play. That said, I love the back eight holes, well designed holes with options. The 10th? Better hit your longest drive , that second shot is another long water carry, no easy route. The last hole is special. Island green par 5.
Typical Friday
I headed out at 3 pm, my two fellow golfers were late so I went off as a single. Behind a threesome. The course was in pretty good shape, putts rolling true. on smooth greens. Groups ahead slowed as side bets made for lining up putts. Still managed to finish before dark. Plan on four and a half hours on Friday.
