Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Course was nice but tee box suck.
The tee box’s where very very very hard, too the point you can not get a tee in the ground. No I’m not weak, it was very hard. Other then that it was really fun super hot and a crap load of bunkers, but fun
Average Course for a average price
Had fun playing the course. The price was average, and so was the course. Would recommend to others…
Tough course in the wind
Some poanna making a few greens bumpy but the inevitable 90 + days will take care of that. The pesky first hole is a tough carry on the approach shot…an easy double bogey to start your day on a high handicap hole. Move up to the red tees on 17 if you are not getting distance. Otherwise splash.
Basic, short muni - needs maintenance
Good layout, some challenging holes. Greens were small and real bumpy, traps were were missing a lot of sand; tons of fire ants.
Awful
Greens were very bumpy and slow. Fairways not much better. They should bite the bullet and close the front nine for a month and repair the fairways and greens, then close the back nine and do the same thing. It is a pretty good course to play, but needs a lot of work.
Lost course
First time playing the course, but I'd heard good things about it from my daughter who'd played it a few months ago. Color me surprised when I got there and the practice green was at least 1/2 sand. I was thinking the course greens couldn't be the same, but was disappointed when they were. Fairways were overrun with weeds, as well as the tee boxes. I'm not sure what happened in the last few months but I do believe they've lost control of the course and may have a hard time getting it back.
Not Even Close to Worth the Price
For $63 per round, I expected the course conditions to be at least significantly above average to excellent. Instead, all but about 3 greens were for the most part not puttable. The fairways were extremely hard and lacked enough grass cover to provide anything close to a good lie for any iron shot. In my opinion, the course layout has potential, but the course condition is so bad that I believe they will have a very hard time bringing this course back to a level that warrants the price being charged. Considering the condition the course was in today, I wouldn't pay $25 to play it again.
Disappointing
My father and I drove a long way to play this course. We called ahead and asked if the greens were decent. We were told they were in good shape. They were literally unplayable. Like playing plinko. Worst shape I’ve ever putted on. On top of that the pin placements were all angled. I’ve played hundreds of courses and this was the worst as far as greens keeping. Don’t waste your time and money.
Great layout and tons of potential BUT…
Great layout and some challenging holes, but course isn’t in great shape. Greens were nearly non-existent and fairway grass was thin. Lots of room for improvement.
