About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Nice track
Nice track Greens need some help. Most play like concrete. Tee boxes need leveling. Would it break your heart to put out ball washers?
Worst customer service ever
Our cart ran out of battery in the 13th, we called the clubhouse and where told someone would be out to help us. No help ever arrived. We attempted to continue by pushing the dead cart with the other cart. On 16 the other cart died as well. We called the clubhouse again and they just told us we should walk. When we finally got back to clubhouse we went to complain only to be informed that there were no managers on the property. The whole experience was completely unacceptable.
Those Greens and pin placemenis
Overall course itself was in good shape. Enjoyed the round with the exception of the extreme speed of the greens and the pin placements that made putting and stopping the ball impossible. Had more 3 and 4 putts than I have had in the last 20 rounds plus. This made the round very frustrating and makes me not want to play the course again..
Nearly ran out of daylight
I cut it kind of close with my 115 pm tee time, finishing in four and a quarter hours thanks to our foursome moving up to the red tees on the back nine. One of our group had only just begun golfing. I felt bad for him. As for me, it was another 90…four pars and four double bogeys. Hole 10 is harsh with a big water carry and a down hill lie. The green slopes severely. I enjoy the last two holes which will reward you for using strategic shots. Greens were bumpy and fast starting out. Sand was applied on number one. Fairways were in good shape.
Quit after nine holes due to pace of play
The pace of play was very slow and to top it off while we diligently kept pace with the groups in front, the group behind consistently were hitting their shots before we cleared with no apologies.
No bang for the buck
I have been waiting to write my review until I played the majority of courses in Houston, and this course is by far on the lower end of the totem pole. For price you can play tons of other course that are way better quality, I won’t see myself coming back unless they change the green fees. Also they don’t have enough carts so you might show up to a tee time and have to wait for a cart, which is ridiculous.
Good value, fair condition with plenty of character.
Good course layout with plenty of character. The course condition overall was pretty good for late November. I really like the finishing hole, a challenging par 5 finishing over water …
