Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Rained Out
The course was in decent shape for as much rain as we have been getting. We only got through 3 holes before heavy rain made the course unplayable and was holding water on the tee boxes and fairways. Even the tunnels were flooded. We had to call the clubhouse and get them to turn the GPS off so we could go around. They refunded us, so that’s a bonus because there was no way we could continue playing when the rain stopped. My only complaint was that we had a tee time for 1:45 and a group of 5 teed off at 1:42 (not sure when they were supposed to start) but they were terrible and played extremely slow. They had a young kid working as the starter so I’m not sure how this happened but this isn’t the first time that I’ve been here mid week and it’s been like this. The last time I played here a group hit into us on the 1st hole while we were waiting to make our approach shot for the group ahead of to get off the green and we would be 4 carts back on the tees on the next hole. This seems to be starter management to me but the course is decent for the price.
Afternoon Monday round
Course in good shape, greens a bit slow. Got behind a 5some that wouldn’t let me pass. Need marshall presence on course.
Excellent Course For The Price
The course was in the best shape it’s ever been for me. I will definitely be going back.
Great place to ply golf!
Played at Greatwoods Golf Club—excellent place to play and AWSOME Twilight fees! The course is beautiful and challenging. You will love this place!
Horrible course etiquette by grounds crew. They would not even stop mowing around the green while we putted. The sand traps were horrible. The greens were very inconsistent. The boxes are unlevel at least grass in the fairway.
Not like the old days...but still good
I played Greatwood back in the 90's when it was relatively new...30 years and it has changed. While not the premiere course it once was, it is still a nice set up. Greens and fairways were in good shape, but tee boxes could use some water.
Major complaint is that they say it is 90 degrees with carts, but they have so many fairway boundaries up that many times you end up playing like it is cart path only. Also be prepared for carts to shut down even in the fairway.
Technical
The course is in great shape. The greens keeper was probably laughing at us do to the pin placement. There is a lot of water and bunkers. Very challenging!
Beautiful Course
I wish they could fix the greens! It’s a beautiful course but greens were in terrible condition
