Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Not so Greatwood
2nd outing where cart died on front nine - front desk is never attended promptly - had a group of 6 using 3 carts ahead of us (has happened before) ...disappointing to say the least
It was ok
I'm sure once the weather gets better the course will blossom. But today was just ok. Didn't like the bunkers the sand was dirt and was not used to that. And some pin placement was not desirable. Putting up hill and one inch from the hole the ball rolled back 15 feet. That was not fun. From par to bogie. The rest was good.
The course bunkers had good sand
This course is in fine shape, to be even nicer as soon as spring comes along. Can’t wait.
Never Again will I waste my money on this course
Upon arrival there were no carts available. After waiting 15 mins. for the cart it still had trash on it from the previous user, and was not sanitized. The battery died on the 15th hole and after 2 calls to the clubhouse it took 20 mins to get a replacement. The fairways and greens were in very poor condition. We had a 5 and a half hour round. I will Not return ever again!
Don’t waste your time and money...
This course should be called “the most frustrating round of golf near Houston.” Minimum 5 hours to play a round, with 5 1/2 being more likely. Absolutely no Marshall, except to check your receipt to make sure you paid. This course stacks as many groups as they can and do nothing to control pace of play. With all the greens fees they’re collecting, you’d think they’d put some money into course maintenance. This course is in terrible condition, has been for quite some time. Too bad the owners/managers of this course do such a pathetic job in scheduling tee times and maintaining this course, it has a nice layout and used to be a really nice tract. I’m done giving this course any more of my money...
Never Again will I waste my money on this course !!
Upon arrival no carts were available, waited 15 mins for a cart that was Not properly sanitized. The battery died on the course. It still had trash from previous user on dash. It took 20 mins for staff to bring a replacement cart after 2 calls to the clubhouse. The course was in Very poor condition. Hard pan fairways with limited grass, green were a 2 on a scale from 1 to 10. It took 5 and a half hours to play 18 holes. Don't waste your money !
Worst golf course in Houston vicinty
Absolutely horrendous. Course is in terrible condition. The greens are terrible and overgrown with the small crab grasses that you cannot putt through. Dont waste your $$ here, save them for another course. Will not return. Played same course about 3 years ago and it was way better. It appears no maintenance is in effect.
Do not play
Overall course is not worth more than $20. Greens were terrible. Fairways had little to no grass. Biggest let down was the greens, would barely call them playable. Spend money somewhere else.
Customer Service
gentleman behind the counter could have cared less if I even played . Never looked at me eye to eye.
Greatwood golf course
First time playing this course it was a little challenging. I will know better for the next time I play there. Nice layout. Fairways weren't very plush and the greens were good but a few were bumpy because of weeds of some sort. Helps to know whether to keep the ball above or below the hole because of some nice slopes. We liked it and will be back again.
