Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Staff V’s. Course
Course has interesting holes. The last three times I’ve gone there, the individual (male) behind the counter couldn’t have been less interested in being there or being civil.
Good course
No Marshall on the course. Played behind a foursome that played in 4:50.
Second time playing. First time played in just over 4 hours.
Great club if you get a good deal
I enjoy playing here. There wasn’t a starter this time around, so we had some problems with pace of play, but overall it’s a great course
Great afternoon for golf
Everything was great EXCEPT they should not allow non-cart golfers during prime hours. It really slows the pace of play. Other than that, great day for golf.
What could have been.
I imagine this course at one time was a wonderful place . However now what has happened to so many courses is the management/ownership has only one thing in mind profits over quality of the course. It makes me feel sorry for the maintenance staff who I’m sure work very hard with little support. The marshal we saw seemed like he was there for the free golf and not to help pace of play and to keep a eye on the singles jumping around the course. Please do yourself a favor and find a course that cares.
Awesome back 9.
Excellent condition. The back nine is some of Carlton Gipson’s best work. The par 5 18th is spectacular and challenging. Only negative: the last two times we played there in late October and early November they allowed one to a cart, due to COVID. Today pro shop said they stopped doing that in September. I said not so!!! We had own carts the two prior weeks. But She refused to allow it unless I paid an additional $20, which I did.
Absolute nightmare
No Marshall, stuck behind a couple little kids with their dad for 4 hours and 30 minutes. only finished 15 holes before dark. slowest pace of play I have ever experience.
all the reviews are true. there is no Marshall, and the pace of play is disturbingly slow. stay away. Far away.
Don’t waist your money.
Customer service is terrible. You can spend less and get more at better courses in. Do not recommend.
Great layout
My friends and I are very familiar with courses designed by Carlton Gipson. Other than Old Orchard, which no longer exists, this is the best Gipson design we have played.
Great holes, great value.
Plenty of Trouble Awaits if You Don’t Play Smart
Overall, I really enjoyed playing this course. I’m about a 25 handicap, so the trouble that awaited came into play a couple of occasions. But when I played smart and steady, I managed fine - and had a lot of fun. Course conditions were good, the greens were quick, and the layout was challenging. So yes, I would love to play here again.
