Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Hot but fun round
Great time. Only issue was with the sprinklers running where we were playing. Other than that a finecround!
Pure enjoyment
Had wonderful round of golf. The course is in great shape, weather was a little hot yet we had a great time
Not bad.
Good layout. Super super small greens but pretty quick. Very undulated small greens makes for a bunch of breaking putts. Layout was not bad, if you can hit your drive 275, you’ll have wedges and short irons into all of the par 4’s. Won’t go out of my way to play here again but would if it was close. Little expensive for a twilight round.
COV19 Warning
The course charged an additional $20 cart fee to ride as a single. I paid $38 for green and cart fee plus $20 to ride as an single—total $58 to play during twilight.
The reason I received was that they have a shortage of carts during weekend play.
You are forced to ride with someone you don't live in the same household with and take on the risk of getting COVID due to a shortage of carts.
It’s very good
Very good course. It’s challenging enough to be able to use most of the clubs in your bag. Course in good condition during hot Texas summer.
Fun Course
The course is in great shape despite a lot of rain., The carts are nice with a rain cover. The trees are not too intrusive and the course is fun to play.
Rained out
only made it through 5 holes before it rained and the course flooded
Sunday Golf
Honestly Sunday golf there for me is a no go I will never go back on Sunday. We were a three some an it took us 5 hours to play 18. We caught a solo with no one in front of him an he had two hole lead. Plus we caught a group that teed off an hour before us an we caught them with the solo slowing us down lol
Greatwood ignores Covid issues
Course conditions were fine but staff required sharing of carts, provided sand rates, and provided water stations without a cart person. Other courses were much more conscious of trying to maintain a health experence for their customers.
Although the course is nice I cannot recommend it to my friends at this time.
Prettiest course I have seen
This course is absolutely gorgeous. Well laid out with enough challenge to keep anyone interested.
