Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Summer Review
Skimpy on maintenance as greens were relatively dry & crusty and most traps lacking sand and very thin. Still a good value if you lowere your expectations.
Course layout is interesting
I liked the course layout, with some creative holes. The fairway and bunker conditions were great, even though the greens had just been aerated and sanded.
Hot day in June!
the course moved pretty good after we played through a group that was fishing a thrown club out of the lake on #11, really! We were stuck behind them for about three holes, no marshals in sight. Only saw the beer cart girl one time, and ALL water coolers were dry on 97 degree day! That was pretty ridiculous!!
Nice layout
The course has an interesting layout.
Pace of play when we played was terrible, 5hrs and 15min I’m the blistering heat behind an incredible slow 4 ball.
Great value
Fun course! Mostly a shot makers course. Not a lot of need for power.
need maintenance
Great layout. Course greens, fairway and traps need work-watering would help. Greens usually good but this time they were dry and patchy. Challenging course and fun layout.
Don't waste your money
This used to be an excellent course. It has gone down hill over the last few years. The greens are gone. Fairways are turf barren with apparent lack of adequate irrigation. Water stations had no cups. Generally this course shows a severe lack of attention. Don't bother.
Disappointed
Greatwood is a disappointment. The course is poorly maintained from fairways to greens, especially greens! Will not play again
Save your money
Save your money the greens are in such poor condition the tea boxes were in such bad shape the golf course it self I would rate it 1 star save your money .
jmata
overall very good course - went when doing mainteance due to harvey
Easter golf
The greens need a lot of work, pretty spotty in places. The course had water standing in several areas near the fairways but you needed a hammer to get your tee in the ground. Other than that the course is in.pretty good shape
Course needs work
Plenty of weeds on fairways and greens her lumpy and not up to par. I took a break from this course for 2 years and went back this weekend hoping it would be in better shape and it wasn't
Course not what it used to be...
I remember when Greatwood was one of the nicest courses in the Houston area. Oh how things have changed. It's still a nice layout, but they can use some added TLC. I don't plan on playing this course again for what I paid ($57). It's not worth that much in my opinion.
such a shame
this is a great layout and yet the maintenance is appalling. Tees are disgusting, fairways mediocre, and greens struggling.
