Greatwood Golf Club
About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Great value - Challenging layout with very small greens
Thursday round under cloudy cool conditions. Greens are fast and mostly true. First time playing this course so the layout made it very difficult to know where to aim on a few rather blind shots. Definitely want to try it again!
Nice course that needs more irrigation
This golf course has a very nice layout and we really enjoyed playing here. There are several very dry areas that hopefully will be taking care with couple of good rains.
Course conditions good, pace of play not so much
Overall course conditions were great, especially the greens, for late November. Big complaint was around pace of play on the front. We had a foursome (dropped to three as one guy left after 7 holes because it was so slow), but were held up on not just every tee shot, but also every shot approaching the greens.
Finally caught up to the “culprits” at the turn. Apparently 12 guys who were just hacking it were all at the number 10 tee box. Granted they were teeing off in groups of 4 at a time, but given how they were playing I knew it would be at least 30 minutes before we could tee off on 10, so decided to skip and jump to 11. We (our original 3 from the front nine) teamed up with a twosome and completed the back without ever seeing the groups behind us again…and there was no one in front of us.
The annoying part was that a Marshall approached us on number 13, and I explained the situation. He said he would go check on the slower groups behind us, but also asked us to speed up…but we had no one behind us and were not holding anyone up!
Dry ground
Found dry tee boxes and overall it was pretty good.
Amazing
Best course in the area and price great staff won’t find better but don’t go there so it doesn’t get to packed lol jk
Dry conditions
Tee boxes hard packed. Tees almost wouldn’t penetrate the ground.
Tees were a bit rough
some of the tee off areas for blue were a bit tough to find a where I can put the ball. tough terrain here and there, but overall it played fair.
The course has been improved
Very pleased with the condition on course over last time I played. Need more water but a lot better
Good course to play and pracitice
Good Public course at a decent price. Fun place, scorable and well taken care of. Fastest greens i have played on for a regular Public course. I really enjoy playing here, pace of play is always fast. Never played more than 4.5 hours a round. It's my go to hot deal track.
Election Day play.
The course was wet due to overnight rain. allegedly there was a 90 degree rule in place but the golf cart shut down if you proceeded. So the cart path only rule was in place and caused slow play.. a few of the holes were very challenging but over all the rest of the course was playable.
