Manor of Groves
Greens firm and speedy, fairways excellent with playable rough.Played here before but massive improvement on the course, good value for money
Great Course
Great course in very good condition. Greens running very true
Corona Golf
Played Manor of Groves first time. Not long but requires good course management. Several tight dig legs. Greens in great shape. Only scored facilities 3 stars as not currently in used due to current restrictions
Good condition in dry spell
Played here for the 2nd time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Course was well kept and greens receptive if a little on the slow side. Although the clubhouse was closed the pro shop was operating. Nice touch was a refreshment tent at the back of the 10th green where a very kind gentleman drove to the clubhouse and brought one of us a Cider which they had run out of at the tent and delivered it on the 11th fairway. Interesting and sometimes challenging course that is well worth a visit.
Do they own a mower?
Fairways very long! Greens in good condition. Overall a nice course especially the older holes the newer ones are vast and exposed. Enjoyable variety though and look forward to trying again in better conditions.
Very good
Friendly members, challenging, well laid out
Don’t park at the clubhouse as no facilities during lockdown and quite a walk to first tee. Park at walkers car park
Highly recommended though
Bang Average
Tee boxes are in awful shape. Greens don’t run true and damage stricken. Really poor layout and generally just a poor course
Great variety
We play 12-15 courses during the year and MoG is the place we visit most. In our price bracket (£10-£25) it not only offers the best value for money (we usually pay £16) but also boasts the most variety, hole-to-hole. Around 8 or 9 of them are dog-legs (of varying degrees, both left and right), the par 3s are testing with lots of protection and the par 5 18th at over 600 yards is a huge challenge to finish on. There's variety WITHIN the holes too. For example, I've played the par 4 4th three different ways. I've laid-up before the brook with 7, leaving myself a partially-blind approach over trees, I've hit a 3-wood over the brook to the 2nd portion of fairway for a 60ft pitch on and I've also tried the ultra-aggressive line straight over the trees from the tee-box with driver. (That last option needs a 300-yard carry though - I didn't have it!) As for general condition, the fairways always look pristine and the greens are well-maintained with some interesting undulations (especially the 13th). The only slight issue is with the tee-boxes. These are sometimes overgrown and are sloped at a disadvantage for right-handed players (being that the ball is often above your feet.) But that's a minor gripe. All-in-all, we've enjoyed every single round in the years we've been playing here and the next visit is already in the calendar. It's a great track.
Manor of Groves
The course is in great shape. It’s testing holes are a challenge for a high handicap golfer
Picturesque particularly the older part
Excellent condition
The only small area was the length of the grass on the tee boxes
Thoroughly enjoyed the round
HOLES
NO REALLY OUTSTANDING HOLES BUT ALL DIFFERENT AND INTERESTING
little gem
staff very welcoming
courses was fantastic very greeen and tidy course all holes were different more of a faders course .
defo be going back on tee times deals
Phew , on the hottest day
Great round , heat was exhausting but buggy made it easier.
Loved the course and cannot wait to return
Great value for money
Have played this course many times and always found it in good condition. This time the Tees were not in as good condition as usual. Food/ drink in clubhouse always very good quality and value. Staff very helpful. Will be playing there again soon.
Great course
Thoroughly enjoyed the round. The greens were a little fluffy but understandable given the awful weather we have just had. I’m sure they will be back to their normal high quality very soon with spring underway. Looking forward to coming back soon.
You pay for what you get
Not good, course boring and predictable, green poor, tees poor, fairways ok, bunkers awful, course layout awful, off course amenities closed for food at 5 so didn't stay. The course was virtually empty which sums it up, not long for this course if it doesn't do something quickly!
