Huge drought in essex but they used their supply on greens and tees. Amazing greens

The tee boxes and greens considering the weather were in excellent condition

I enjoyed playing the course but there were a couple of holes particularly on the front right which had no signage or where to hit your second shot. The par 5 6th needs a marker post to show you that you need to aim right of trees for your second shot.

Also it was not obvious where some of the next tees were and therefore could do with markers.

The clubhouse was very nice and I would highly recommend the Green Thai curry !

Good layout and pretty good greens. Fairways a bit bare and bumpy but can't complain at £34 before midday on a Sunday.

Very friendly staff on arrival including the Starter on 1st hole, lovely course layout, excellent value for money

Been playing here on and off for about 20 years and pleased it has gone forwards

Firstly I can’t believe that any golfer would leave a 5 star review for what is basically a golf course set in the land of an old farm. Any serious golfer will be hugely disappointed after playing here. The entrance driveway is excellent after that it’s all downhill. The clubhouse is a large metal farm shed, changing rooms and toilets are awful. To be honest this course is just for ‘the lads’ or beginners to hack around and have some fun. At £40 a round it’s expensive in comparison with other clubs at the same price, especially when visitors have to play off the winter mats in Mid-May! Our 4ball unanimously agreed not to play here again.

Arrived at couse 30mins before Tee time, to have a society day in front, waited around and 45 mins after scheduled tee time, still hadn't hit a shot.

No management of 1st tee, and time taken by each group.

Ended up leaving without paying, would not recommend.

Nice course, good amenities but they do pair you up with randoms, even though it wasn’t busy and it was midweek I would understand if it was busy or a weekend

Nice course in good condition with some nice holes, disappointing to be told that non members have to play off the blue tees which were a majority of mats while the members play off the yellow tees with no mats, should not be using mats now in April

Best condition course I've played this year so far!

Flat tee boxes, excellent fairways and greens that run true.

No standing water.

I didn't have any mud on me a the end of the round.

Groundsman have definitely put the work in and it shows.

I played here a number of times last year, and this was the best it's ever been, and it's only March.

Can't wait to come back later in the year.

Pace of play was horrendous - stuck behind 2 groups who would not let me play through. Not the best layout - admittedly first time playing Mardyke. Fairways were pretty muddy, not a lot of grass. Other courses in the area are better value for money.

Another stuffy members course - though the chap in reception was fairly affable. Would only return if I can't get a tee time at surrounding courses.

Great course. Never get used to it. Lovely distances, hazards . Great value

Course was in good shape except for the 16th hole which we were warned about before tee off.

The only gripe I have is that I tried phoning around 730am one morning to book a teetime and no answer on any occasion.

Left my phone number on answering machine but no one contacted me .

If the course says open on the website then someone should surely answer.
