A different test on every hole
Course in good condition . Greens were good . Only negative was the bare lies on the fairways although this is weather related.
First time playing.
Greens were really good, but fairways were really poor, worst I've seen or played off
Nice course
A nice challenge, very very dry fairways but well looked after greens
Good course
Summer days are hard fairways.
Else it's a good course
Mardyke valley
Club house , staff, and off course facilities terrific.
The greens were the best I’ve seen anywhere.
The fairways were hard and dry and without much grass but that is to be expected given the weather we have had lately
Mardyke Valley - Great course
Some straight forward holes & some tricky ones
Staff friendly - Has everything you need
Would recommend
Fairways need attention
Quite a small course with some interesting holes but the state of or complete lack of fairways totally let's this course down.
Little Jem
What a great course, greens are lovely & true. Some really testing holes & great value for money. Will definitely be back.
Day out in the sunshine
A friendly starter welcomes you, gives a bag of seed and sand to repair your divots which I like as it shows they want the course looked after. Some easy holes and a few that will test any level of golfer. Greens are well kept. Very good value for money and the club house has decent food. Can’t ask for much more than that.
Not an enjoyable round/13 holes
I have to start by saying I have played here many times before (mainly twilight) and have generally enjoyed it. The course is fine and represents good value for money. Unfortunately our experience this time was a pretty negative one.
We booked through GolfNow (2 ball). There was a 'hot deal' that was a lot cheaper, so obviously it made sense to book this. It became apparent afterwards that we had actually booked on alongside another 2 ball, but we did not have an issue with this. However, when we got to the tee it turned out they were actually a 3 ball - I can only assume one golfer had just turned up to pay on the day. What irked us somewhat is the starter let them go before us, stating it was because they had 'booked it ages ago'. Not sure why that is relevant (especially with one of them having not booked at all), the logical choice would be to let the 2 ball go first, surely? They also seemed quite new to the game, which again isn't a problem but just made the choice for them to go first even more bizarre.
I have to mention the starter some more. It's the 3rd time he's been there when I've played and I can't really say I've enjoyed any of the interactions. I find him to be quite in your face, blunt and to be honest just plain annoying. He really doesn't add anything to the experience and instead we found ourselves leaving the tee feeling agitated by talking to him.
One of the main problems with this course is that it has multiple pinch points, particularly around holes 1, 8 & 14 where groups bunch up and play becomes really slow. We teed off nearly 20 mins after our original tee time due to the first hole backlog - this after arriving to the tee in good time. We then saw two groups tee off on the 8th hole. The final straw for us was as we finished the 13th there were 3 groups waiting at the 14th tee, no idea what had happened to cause such a backlog. We waited for a few minutes, but due to the pace of play and general lack of enjoyment of the round we just walked in.
My advice to anyone who wants to play here - come late afternoon when it's cheaper, quieter and the starter as gone home, so you can actually enjoy your round. As for me, I don't intend on coming back in a while.
Scruffy course !
A very scruffy course especially fairways.
Greens very slow, bobbly and non responsive.
Could be so much better with a bit of tlc.
A hidden gem
Mardyke Golf Course is an absolute pleasure to play. Tucked away in a peaceful setting, the course offers a great mix of challenge and playability for golfers of all skill levels. The fairways are well-kept, the greens run true, and the layout keeps things interesting from start to finish..
The facilities are solid, and it’s clear that care and effort go into maintaining the course. If you’re looking for a quality round in a scenic and laid-back environment, Mardyke is definitely worth a visit.
Course in great condition fir time of year
Course really good greens were excellant bearing in mind how much rain we have had fairways also very good
Featureless
Quite a featureless course and a lot of roped off areas so you have to abandon your trolley and walk with a handful of clubs on most holes.
Eagle hole 16
Had a lovely round. Course and greens in real good condition. Hit 95 with an eagle on 16.
