Somewhere new to play

Played here for the first time in July. Wasn't that impressed although the first few holes weren't too bad. The course layout was a bit strange and some holes very odd. There are better courses in the area and I don't plan to return.

A well maintained course

A well maintained course, with good quality greens and bunkers. It's quite a long course, so plenty of opportunity to use the long irons.

A course layout on the back of the scorecard would have been useful.

Superb and challenging course

This is a great golf course. Beautifully designed and maintained. It feels like a tour standard course in places with some really great holes. The Par 3 3rd and 12th are especially good holes both play over water. Its probably not the best course for beginners as it is unforgiving. i had 7 pars on my card but also 2x 7's and 2 x 8's. you need to be able to hit the ball straight but not necessarily that long.

We played early Thursday evening in August so we got a good price but even at £30-35 i would say this represents good value.

Facilities were fine with small pro shop and decent bar for a beer afterwards. Which has an outside terrace area facing the 18th green.

Highly recommended

A very nice golf course mixed of parkland and woodland

A very nice golf course mixed of parkland and woodland., many holes through beautiful tree-lined fairways but enough space off the tee on to decent size fairways. Greens in very good condition.

Excellent value for money with so many outstanding neighbours in the surroundings.

This is by far the best and most challenging course I have played this year. The entire course was in superb condition. I would recommend this course to anyone.

Don't believe the hype or reviews

Where do I start. On arrival course looked good but as the saying goes dont judge a book by its cover.

Pro shop was a complete state boxes everywhere no room to move. Three teens manning the desk where more involved talking amongst themselves then serving us.

Tee boxes hadnt been cut. Fairways where okay but seen better at the local pitch and putt. Greens where shocking worst I've played this year played better greens else where in winter.

Walked off after 12 holes went to the bar no staff about when one finally appeared all we was greeted with was "kitchen closed" so just walked out. Wont be back wouldn't recommend it to anyone on today's experience.

For a course with such great reviews and a 65 quid price tag when booking through there site I'd just stay away and play elsewhere. Course has so much potential some stunning holes just shocking standards.

Great course!

The course is really nice and well kept. Some challenging holes and some birdie chances too. Will definitely play there again. The bar isn't great but that's only a small thing.

Positives

Fine course. Love the challenge and variation and greens in great nick.

A true test of golf. Clearly well looked after so I applaud the greens keepers and ground staff.

Only thing I’d improve is water somewhere to drink during your round. No drinking fountain and half way house was not open.

Other than that, highly recommended

Poor overall

Course was in good condition but pace of play was terrible. Group of 4 ladies were not letting a queue of 2 balls through and therefore the round ended up taking just under 5 hours.

Definitely not run of the Mill

A very attractive course with a number of memorable holes.

Course a little wet in places, but overall in very good condition given the recent bad weather.

Greens pacy and some interesting undulations.

Staff really friendly and helpful.

Nice clubhouse and facilities. Bar has good selection of food a drink.

Well worth a visit. Our fourball will be back for sure.

Great condition and fantastic greens

The course had heavy overnight rain the night before and we had a 10am teetime dreading the worst but conditions were excellent. The drainage is great as the greens were fast and true and in great condition and all fairways completely playable and not a temp green in sight. A proper test of golf where you use every club in the bag and a very interesting well designed course. Very friendly service in bar and pro shop. Highly recommended.

Very good

First time playing Mill Ride (recommended by a friend) and I can say I wasn't disappointed. Challenging course with accuracy a premium. Not very long but anything wayward can cost you a couple shots.

Fairways immaculate (when I found them :)) and greens quite friendly but a good read is a must!

I will definitely play it again and it's a good test. If you shoot a good score you've earned it-you can't luck you way around. Friendly staff!

Definitely worth playing and I look forward to returning. Enjoy!

Choose your tee and have a blast!

A strong & varied course lay-out with different and interesting challenges for each hole, with the excellent added option of 4 different tees for all abilities, ages and sexes - 6.9k, 6.5k, 5.9k & 5.7k yards.

With so many short courses around it's great to have the option of the back tees and play long irons-fairway woods into greens for the longer hitter.

I'd thoroughly recommend this course to golfers of all ability and also like to commend the staff and members on their friendliness and willingness to call 2 balls through, even on a bank holiday.

Will definitely re-visit, especially with such value for money green fees
