Great staff
We played this today and was a bit disappointed to be told only 9 were open as work was being done on the other 9. This should have been advertised on the golf now web site.
The pro shop was excellent and said we could play the front 9 twice and warned us the green had been tined and sanded...also should have been mentioned on the golf now web site...
The pro shop said it would sort something out if we thought it was too bad.
Well....front 9 was in great shape and even though a bit sandy the greens still were better than a lot of greens I've played locally when they are at their best. Considering the amount of rain we've had in the last few weeks is was dry on most of the fairways.
In short...yes I'll be back to play again
Mud
Probs a lovely course when dry. Had to play 2x9 holes as rest were closed off.
Doesn’t drain well at all. Bag carry only too. Perhaps should have flagged this up before we booked. Really friendly bar.
Difficult conditions as expected for a course in December. Many tees shortened but completely understandable for the protection of the course. Greens excellent for the time of year. I look forward to returning to play the course in its full lay out when I’m sure it’ll provide a good test.
Wet Round
First time I had played this course and unfortunately it had rained earlier in the morning which compounded upon previous days rain. This meant that only a selection of 9 holes could be played and no trolleys were permitted on the course. This I only found out on arrival and because the round was booked online with Golf Now there was no indication that the course would be partially closed. I think a message sent out to those having booked online would be courteous and allow golfers knowledge of what lies ahead especially if travelling from a distance. Overall I enjoyed the round and drainage was good enough on most fairways and there were no flooded greens. Look forward to playing 18 holes on a dry day in future.
In poor condition
Such a shame as played in the summer and a brilliant course with excellent variety of holes. This time was ruined by extremely boggy fairways which included 2/3 holes cut very short. No facilities for food or drink before 9am and even with a promise of halfway house being available, it never opened. Disappointed overall
Nice course if you have all day
Course was in very good condition with good greens and Tees. Only problem was took over 4 hours to play 15 holes waiting on every shot so a little painful
Nice course
Good course, lovely weather, challenging round but very enjoyable.
Very overpriced for the conditions
Where do I start, me and my friend were charged £40 each to play this course so I was expecting good things. The state of the fairways, greens and rough would be pushing a £15 round. There were big bare patches on the greens and fairways, grass cuttings everywhere really disappointed with paying £40 for a round. Course layout is great just really bad condition.
great hidden gem
very impressed! greens were immaculate, as were tee boxes. course lay out and condition was good fun. loved it and recommend you play it.
Brilliant experience
Superb experience:
- staff was friendly and allowed me to start before time
- pace of play was fast. And despite a 3 ball ahead of me, I didn’t face delay
- greens were very true. Although undulating, providing a superb challenge
- layout is awesome - starts with easy holes. But 17th and 18th are super hard
- great value for money - got it on a hot deal!
Lovely location
Mostly good. Plenty of challenges, lovely surroundings, well-kept course, though masses of unmown grass meant lots of lost balls, even with relatively straight hits.. Little signage but most tees findable. It would be nice to have more visible distance-to-green markers.
A fair challenge for most golfers
Love the layout of this course, rewards good shots, greens are very undulating & requires good putts to score well.
Greens had been spiked & sanded but still enjoyable to play & will be fantastic once recovered. Some bare patches are being repaired on greens also.
Very slow round today for the first time unfortunately, not been an issue in the past. Made time to get an ice cream though!
Recommend a trip out to play this course.
