One of my favourite courses in Gloucestershire

A great and challenging 18 hole. Some amazing par 3s and all in all a great experience. My only recommendation would be to install some ball cleaners.

Roast on a Sunday was great too!

Can’t wait to go again.

A little gem.

If you want a fun game of golf, then this is the place to come. You have to your game with cattle and walkers as it is public land. We found everyone very understanding of golfers needs so all went well. It’s a bit like crazy golf on a full size course.

Brilliant.

Excellent

Upon arriving at the club prior to our round we went into the clubhouse for a coffee and was met by friendly staff.

Just before the round we also met some local players who were very friendly and even gave us some tips for the course. The course its self is a very good course, every hole is different, with different challenges. It my not be the longest course but the challenges on each hole more than makes up for it. Even with all the rain we have had recently the course played perfect. It is a course myself and my playing partners will definitely be back to play again. Thanks you Painswick.

Quirky and brilliant

Accept this is a different type of golf experience and only £20 - then not sure how you couldn’t love it. Had a great time with extraordinary views, blind tee shots and punchbowl greens.

Most fun I’ve had on a non links GC. Will be back with more friends another day,

Rain not affecting play!

Considering the amount of wet weather we have had, the course has held up well in comparison to others locally. They’ve moved to winter tees but everything else was great.

Interesting course !!

Played this course on a Sunday and enjoyed the fantastic views and unusual layout, although it was very challenging due to the extreme terrain and tumps and unexpected holes everywhere. Also playing on a weekend is not recommended as many times had to wait for multiple walkers to pass by and loose dogs running around. Also bit confusing having to play up and down the same fairway half way round as met other golfers coming the opposite way and no idea who goes first and how best to play past !! May consider going again, but in summer and midweek.

Wow, what an incredible adventure

After reading articles about Painswick, my father and I were very excited to visit the club for the first time. It really did not disappoint, an adventure from start to finish, natural undulating terrain, exciting tee shots and probably the best set of par 3s on any course I have ever played. In a world of highly inflated greenfees, and a desire for long over manicured golf courses, Painswick offers a refreshing approach to natural and exciting golf. I would encourage everyone to play there and at a cost of £20 it is probably the best value golf to be found anywhere.

Tremendous fun

Definitely a fun course with an apparently short layout posing many puzzles due to incredible routing, some extreme slopes and some tiny ( and often hidden) greens. Very friendly members and helpful staff.

Certainly an utterly enchanting course and a one-off in terms of design. Hey, who needs bunkers and penalty areas?

Small but perfectly formed.

Painswick was superb start to finish, met by friendly and welcoming staff, fantastic food and one of the best course experiences I've had and fantastic value too.

Course is a throwback and one of the most enjoyable rounds I've had. Some iconic holes yes but they are all interesting and challenge you to hit a huge range of shots. A really refreshing change from the norm of one or two interesting holes and a bunch of driver, wedge par 4s.

While the walk is short there are some serious elevation changes and it's best played with a carry bag.

Will definitely be coming back, thanks for a great experience.

Quirky gem ...but don't tell everyone

Adore this place. It's not the finest golf course but it's very special. Terrific views along the Cotswold Edge at the peak – glimpses of the Severn Estuary in the distance (does that technically make it a links course?), if you're lucky to catch a clear day; tricky misty starts at other times of the year. Very playable once you know the course, with all its original and unique charm intact. Super-friendly staff, recommend bacon butties in the well presented clubhouse bar. Don't play on Sunday afternoons, the land is very popular with walkers who have precedence on Sundays. NB 200 yard first fairway is steeper than you think... requires fitness if you're carrying.

This course is unique and so much fun to play. Incredible views, quirky holes, it may be short but it can beat you up.
