Rother Valley Golf Centre - Main Course

Rothervalley is a good course for all levels.The conditions were as to be expected with this dry spell we are having.However the bunkers are minimum sand and Stoney.The pace of play was extremely slow it took me as a single player 4 and a quarter hours.

I was enjoying my round and the pace of play was good until I reached the 6th hole.

2 x 2 ball groups were waiting on the 6th tee when I arrived due to 2 x elderly groups of 4 balls in buggies had only just Tee'd off.By the time the 1st 2 ball were able to tee off a further 2 groups were waiting behind me ( A 3 x ball & a 2 x ball). This made 5x groups waiting.

This continued at the 7th,8th and 9th holes,where I decided to end my round after playing the 9th hole.

In total it took 2 3/4 hrs to play the front nine,NOT an enjoyable front nine.

I can appreciate some players are quicker than others,but this was totally unacceptable as no golf etiquette came into play from the 2 x4 balls groups in Buggies that were playing at a very slow pace and were responsible for the groups backing up behind them.

I wasn't the only one in walking off after finishing the 9th hole.

Didn't enjoy my round

Really enjoyed my round. Unfortunately spoiled everso slightly by the rough, if the ball runs off the fairway. Very long grass and brambles made losing balls very easy and costly. Could do wil a trim around the edges in places. Other than that the course is lovely, especially the greens which where beautiful.

Great course condition and great value for money. Just one little complaint which has happened every time we play here is the green keepers are just oblivious to golfers. Cutting the grass around you whilst playing your shot. They don't even turn the mower off or stop cutting the grass. Just a little etiquette would be nice. Other than that well worth the money.

Had a great round here. Course was in reasonable condition, it was a hot sunny day. You could see where there was some muddy patches however they did not interfere with the holes however on we winter days could see it being frustrating. Generally all greens, rough and fairways looked well taken care of

Course was in great condition a little windy but a sunny and warm day. Not played the course for a couple of years so need to go more often. Its one of many great courses in South Yorkshire. It is well laid out with a few long holes and a difficult signature hole which is played from up an hill and tree lined narrow line to a green island with a moat. Not very often do you a par with this one. Its worth the visit for the price and its facilities!

Course was in great condition, the best it’s been in years in my opinion. Greens were perfect with fairways and rough cut nicely as well. Was a little hard in places but other than that no complaints.

I love this course, it is beautifully laid out with collection of open and tight holes. None are overly long so it's great for amateurs and has hazards in the right areas.

The problems are mainly with members and green keepers.

Playing as solo I was held up for the last 6 holes behind some elderly members, a 4 ball with 2 buggies.

One of them struggled to walk one buggy was being driven shot to shot which really slowed things up.

There was another four ball in front of them which we caught with 3 holes to play.

While I was playing, after the members had played, they jumped straight on the greens, or turned sprinklers on to do some work while I'm stood still waiting to play my approach shot. Rather annoying when you've been waiting at least 3 mins to take every shot, then you have a mower wizzing around a fairway or a keeper walking around the green.

Nice wildlife wandering around though.

The course was vwry wet and muddy due to recent heavy rainfall, the course was playable and all greens in use and in good condition. 18 holes for £16 on app is a bargain.

Great driving range and 9 holes par 3 and foot golf available.

and sad to report it’s not better, many fairways have unplayable areas due to the poor drainage and boggy conditions, although some signs of drainage work are evident it’s still has a long way to go before it’s a course suitable for winter play. I also don’t recall the greens being such a mess, the amount of unrepaired pitch marks is unreal, no sure what this is an evidence of but the greens were not good. Winter tee mats are ok, but clearly not cleaned or maintained as they are just mud mats. And as for slow play, ridiculous, people shanking it 100 yds off the tee the. waiting for greens to clear 250 yds away! jokers! Lots of young lads too that don’t seem to be aware of course etiquette. Such a shame as this course could be a gem, but so much improvement needed. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Looking forward to player again in the summer.

Course was wet in places but staff were honest about the conditions. Allowed on early as not busy. Enjoyed the course and.all greens in play and decent condition

18 holes for under £15 is great value..

Average conditions with seriously poor pace of play , zero golf etiquette at this place , people playing in any old clothes aswell not for the serious golfer at all conditions were average nothing amazing , it was £67 before 2 o’clock aswell luckily I only laid £24 but I think that was over priced at this place a pound a hold would have been a fair price £18 is all it’s worth
