Great layout, needs TLC
We play this course probably ten times a year at various times, this time it was a red hot September morning with lots of dew, so quite wet, I always enjoy the layout and challenge but I am always disappointed to see tee boxes which get no love from greenkeepers nor players. The course could be one of those that is up there with the right investment, but I am sure we could say that about many courses. Staff are always great, food and drink is fine. The course is a moderate challenge for a decent player with the third hole being the hardest on the course. I always like the 7th par 3 as I can never remember what club it should be. Best to play this course in summer months as it can be very boggy, but it is priced competitively and its very easy to book and get on. Keep away from the bunkers as they tend to be full of water or compacted sand. There are definitely worse courses for more money so give it a go if you want a decent value knock.
SLOWEST ROUND EVER
This was our slowest round ever , we was only a 2-ball but our patience gave up after 11 holes , after 2&1/2 hours . We were behind the monday members ‘fiddle’ (3 x 4 ball groups) . We waited on every tee , every fairway, & for every green to clear .Not once were we asked if we would like to go through , even though we prompted them on numerous occasions . This has really put us off Rother Valley GC , which is a quality track & a reasonable price for the golf now visitor .We won’t be returning any time soon , members should at least , know better not to slow play down , & have common courtesy to at least wave players through.
Course in decent condition but not the greens
Overall the course was in ok condition but for the middle of summer the greens are in pretty poor condition, other than that the course looks well maintained
Could be better
I haven not played the 18 Hole course so I cannot comment on that.
However I have been to this club for around 3 months now using the Driving range which has Toptracer installed. On some bays it does not track shots correctly and I find myself trying to wait for bays that do work consistently.
The range is ok but I would avoid it at weekends at all costs, Often you can be sat around waiting for a bay to come free whilst people stay in bays with hundreds of balls seeing how far they can drive them, There doesn’t seem to be much consideration for others.
Kids running all over the place, Swearing and shouting and running in front of people’s bays picking up balls to have another go, This definitely needs addressing.
The facilities are ok but nothing special and could do with a face lift, Overall it is an ok place to play golf but don’t expect anything more.
Great condition
Great course in very good condition. Excellent facilities too, par 3 and driving range with Toptracer.
Decent course
Bunkers are so hard you could damage your club’s potentially and the light rough was heavy rough at other courses, it’s got great potential going forward, just the minor things will make it so much better, trim the rough a bit more and real bunker sand and it’s definitely worth £23 we paid. At moment I’d say £15/£17
Should have been closed!
I have played Rother Valley many times and was expecting it to be wet in areas but it was totally unplayable. There was no way the course should have been open and taking peoples money when areas were almost completely under water. No warning whats so ever. All bunkers full of water, could hardly stand up walking through the fairways and even some tee boxes. It will have completely ruined the course for weeks to come so don't understand why they dint close it.
Good day
Arrived to play this course 1st time. Heavy rain overnight made it a bit sticky.
Nice fairways ,open which suits my golf!!
Would definitely visit again
Great!
Great condition for the time of year, nice and dry. Good fairways and friendly staff. Good beer.
Always good
Very wet in places but to be expected with the recent weather. I always enjoy this course, if I lived closer I would join. Great value for money compared to other similarly priced courses.
Slow no play
Waited on every hole, most holes 2 groups waiting 😡😡😡 very very slow play
