Played behind a 3 ball who spent time looking for balls whilst waiting we were waiting to Tee off being a 2 ball they should have called us through as one of the players was in the rough 10 yards of the Tee
Superb
100% recommend this course to anybody. The course was in excellent condition, nothing out of place, all clearly well looked after and cared for. Playing as a single, every group I came across was polite and friendly and let me through, mostly after offering if I would like to join them which was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed my round.
The greens weren’t in great shape. Lots of bobbles. In general a beautiful course, I always enjoy playing it. Not a fan of the blind tea shot on the 18th, I always feel that hole lets the whole course down.
Has great potential
For the time of year, the course is in poor condition, the greens havnt been mowed for well over a week or ironed. Fairways not cut. I played this course before and was in excellent nick. The course it’s self is great and some interesting holes, just needs some TLC
Potential to be a good course
The layout of the course and greens was really good; however, the condition of the greens and general course was very poor even for this time of year. Not worth £30. Would’ve been OK paying £15/20
A decent round with brothers at Christmas
I had the chance to play Rudding Park Golf Course over Christmas while visiting family. Playing in December in Yorkshire always comes with its challenges, but Rudding Park offered a solid experience.
Nice driving range with plenty of bays and ball tracking technology, as well as a decent chipping and putting area, making it easy to get ready for the round. The course itself was a bit wet in spots, and the greens were understandably bumpy and slow given the season. Despite that, it was an enjoyable round at a reasonable price.
Great course
Shame about the slow play of the people in front and the lack of golf etiquette to let us through but apart from that it was a very well looked after course.
Good challenge
The course was in good condition. The greens were quite slow but rolled true. We hadn’t booked a golf buggy and sadly they were all allocated, we did get to hire electric trolleys. The driving range was well layed out but quite expensive.
We didn’t use the catering facilities.
Would I go back? Yes I would, but I would recommend players to also play the 6 hole academy course which looks to ha some really challenging holes, think of the par 3 island green at PGA Sawgrass. A good day out.
Rudding Park Hawtree course

Rudding Park 2024
Awesome venue . Course in excellent condition . Friendly staff and great food . Definitely recommend
Decent.
Some nice holes. Condition of course varied from quite nice to not great- the new holes are not bedded in at all. I don’t know what the changed holes were, but I do know that the old green you can just about still make out looked more spectacular than the newer one.
A few longish walks between holes, and some elevation change meant this felt a bit of a slog. After an easy start, the epic 3rd - uphill, 460 yards into the breeze (played off purples having been asked not to use whites). A few holes a little samey but the 155 yard 5th is a gem. Some nice tree lined doglegs and a few bits of water in place add interest.
Given its location the traffic noise was not as intrusive as expected but conversely the views beyond the course weren’t as fulsome as anticipated.
It was a bit slow- a struggling three ball a few groups ahead. For £25 on a July late afternoon I don’t think it was too bad. Would I pay more? Probably not. Did I feel I was ripped off? Probably not.
Beautiful course
I recently had the pleasure of playing a round at the Rudding Hawtree course, and I must say it offers excellent value for money. The quality of the grass is top-notch, providing a lush and well-maintained playing surface that enhances the overall golfing experience.
One notable aspect is the ongoing construction work around the course. While some might see this as a minor inconvenience, I view it as a sign of great things to come. The improvements underway look promising and are set to make the course even better in the near future.
Despite the construction, the course layout remains enjoyable, with challenging yet fair holes that cater to golfers of all skill levels. I’m looking forward to returning once the enhancements are complete, but even now, Rudding Hawtree stands out as a superb choice for a round of golf.
I hope this captures the essence of your experience at the course!
A Fun Christmas Round with Siblings Despite the Weather
We played Rudding Park in Harrogate during the Christmas season with family, and despite the wet and muddy conditions, it was an enjoyable experience.
The course itself is well-designed, offering a mix of interesting holes that kept the game engaging. The layout provides a fair challenge for golfers of all abilities, with a few standout holes that really showcase the natural beauty of the area. Even with the winter weather, the greens were in decent condition, which is a testament to the maintenance team.
However, as expected during this time of year, the course was quite muddy in places, so waterproof footwear is essential if you're planning to play during the winter months. The atmosphere at Rudding Park was warm and welcoming, which added to the overall experience.
For those who enjoy a relaxed round with family or friends, Rudding Park is a solid choice, even in less-than-ideal conditions. I’d love to come back during the spring or summer to see how the course plays in drier weather.
Wet Wet Wet
Rudding is a nice open parkland course perfectly capable of accomodating my wayward tee shots - and a beautiful golf course by any standards. Just now - and after an admittedly very wet spring - the course is struggling in parts with drainage and some very lush rough; just deep enough to bury a ball especially if it's plugging! Signage could be better and there are signs of wear and lack of maintenance in certain parts of the course.
Not sure if a buggy is a help or a hindrance when you have to stick to the pathways. Those fairways are generally wide!
Over priced and well just awful
I am lucky to play a lot of golf to a pretty high standard. I was visiting some friends who suggested I try rudding park, they had head that the course wasn’t getting a lot of investment, but as only a local rumour did also say that the course used to have a really good reputation. It is true this course condition is indeed very poor. You literally could not differentiate between fairway and rough on many of the holes. The greens were ok, but urgently need attention before the season gets fully underway.. the pace of play was terrible, mainly due to the fact that there was a lot of “non golfers” playing. Who thought nothing of hacking several divots out of any green or fairway. It’s a shame that rudding don’t seem to value this course as it did seem to have a half decent layout and could be soo nice. But a few things need to change.. I paid £70 for this round and I wouldn’t have paid £5 for it. Will not be retuning
Winter conditions good
I played on my own with a last minute booking midweek. Three hours with no hold ups. Course wet but no fairway matts or winter greens. I carried but I think trollies with winter wheels were allowed. Great lay out with recent modifications improving the course. Good condition despite recent wet weather. Staff all great. Worth a visit if in area. 👍
