Old established 9 hole beauty

We have played Sutton bridge many times over the years as it's my local and we like quirky old dock setting. The course is back to it's best having gone through a period of poor upkeep when the greens were pretty much destroyed.

There has been a shift away from the old school snooty pretensciousness which is also very welcome. The club and bar are very welcoming and I am even considering joining as an associate member.

Interesting Quirky course

As this course is in an old dock it has some interesting features with some of the holes featuring part of the old dock wall. The layout provides both easy & difficult holes & challenges. Thoroughly enjoyable, I have played here a couple of times & it hasn’t disappointed, will definitely play here again soon.

Didn’t try the off course amenities & didn’t meet any staff so cannot comment on this aspect.

Harder than you'd think

Played Sutton Bridge with a great offer from Golf now. For a short 9 hole course it's quite challenging. The condition was okay, greens were average and the bunkers not great but value for money it was excellent. There are some challenging drives that if you get wrong or are not long enough can really lead to you putting a big number on the card.

Pace of play was very slow, otherwise not a bad afternoon over there.

Hidden gem

Tbh i wasn't really expecting that much, the course was just being cut and a lot of grass cuttings were left in rough, but overall course conditions for earl in season were great, greens especially good, the course layout amongst an old dock yard adds character, and makes holes enjoyable playing to different levels, also for nine holes its got some longer holes plus a 190 par 3, i really enjoyed it here, its definitely somewhere id come again, the club house was also very nice, and big again for a nine hole golf course, the staff were very friendly, food is available, overall was very impressed and would recommend to anyone

Great Value for a Quirky Course

Me & a friend play the same 2 courses every week, Sutton bridge is only 15 mins from our doorstep but we were under the impression it was a stuffy old members only club. We saw the ridiculously good value price for 18 holes and decided to chance it & we are so glad we did. Weathers been poor but the greens played excellently, course was challenging & threw up lots of little surprises & quirks throughout the day & the interactions we had in the club house and on the course from staff were some of the friendliest we have ever experienced in golf. I will be recommending to everyone I know & will be back to play in no time!

What a course

First time playing this course and what a beautiful course. Greens were fast and true. Very friendly members walking up and asking how we were getting on and the staff were very friendly even if they did laugh as I finned a SW 50 yards past a 100yard par 3. Would highly recommend to someone looking for a more challenging course to play

Fabulous Day out

Having seen the decline of this gem of a golf course it was fantastic to see it nearly back to its best. Well done SBGC team.

Good course

A bit of a gem really, a 9 hole course that is played twice. Quite a tight course with some tricky holes from a visual point of view. The 3rd a par 4 is a fair walk to an elevated tee that requires a good drive to stay on the high ground. A good use of the mind is vital. Greens were running well at the time of the visit.

Hidden gem

Had never played hear before and wasn’t sure what to expect. Layout was a bit different but once we got our heads round it we found it to be great. Greens where great for the time of year and the fairways in the old dock part was green as well, if you haven’t played here before I would give it ago one of the best 9,hole course I’ve played
