Loved it
What a great course and in brilliant condition for the time of year.
Clearly a well looked after venue and at £20 on a deal just the best value around.
It’s not for the feint hearted with a lot of water and tricky greens but even given my poor score I loved playing the course. To my mind that’s the best endorsement for any golf course.
Fantastic course
Best course in Essex. Hidden gem, will definitely play here again.
Great course
Course in great condition, fairways like the greens lush and well maintained. Good features and testing for all abilities. One of the best courses I have played in Essex.
Overall a nice course but...
Nice greens and fairways, good variation of holes, the bunkers though were... shocking! A couple were 'okay' but the rest were either rock hard or full of rocks/stones, no consistency.
Play was very slow when I played too, took us 5 hours to get round!
Would play there again but not paying full price, will look for a TeeOffTimes deal.
Great Course
First time I’ve played at this course and definitely won’t be the last. Absolutely brilliant course. For winter, the course was in great shape with excellent greens.
Pace of play was very good and staff were friendly, highly recommended.
Winter review
A relatively flat course - easy to walk and considering the current weather (cold/damp) was in pretty good condition. The greens were very good albeit one or two were being repaired. No temporary greens. Important to point out this course has winter tees (mats) on on all holes over the winter. The mats are very large and in great condition and this is did not hamper our play - even though not everybody likes using them!
great course
A lovely course with a fair bit of water. Greens very fast even though bobbly due to being aerated recently. Burrows very hard to see.
Fairly undulating but not severely.
Sadly a very slow round well over 4 hours for a 2 ball. This was due too a 4 ball and 3 ball that didnt seem to know the call through etiquet. Sadly no course marshall to hurry them up. Played the 18th in near darkness.
Clubhouse although quite small was very nice.
Will definately go back when the days are longer
brentwood
a good course to play the drainage on golf course really good and the weather was perfect enjoyable round of golf
Struggling with winter conditions
Disappointed that this otherwise fantastic golf course does not stand up to current weather conditions.
Played a very slow round as a 2 ball and we followed a group of 12. Took 4 & 1/2 hours but it felt longer and the course marshall did not really do a great deal.
Not a great drainage course and so really disappointed, as it plays fantastic in the summer. Will be back again in the summer when the course is playing well again, but until then definitely avoid if it's been a wet spell, it struggles to cope with the rain, apart from the greens.
Best around for value
Paid £23 to play on a Sunday at 12.20. Pace was great as no one in front of me. For the money I would rate this as one of the best I’ve played in the area. Good layout, course requires thought to get round with a good score.for the time of year it was in good condition. The only down side was the green where running quick, this would be great if they where flat but they had just been spiked and where very bumpy so putting was difficult.
Excellent Challenge
Really Challenging course for all levels of golfer
Course played well. Good lay out well designed holes but playable. First two quite easy then it gets more interesting. Have to be in the right place off the tee most of the time. Greens smooth but not fast.
A great little track
Really enjoyed the course with some good testing holes. Will return for another round, as there are a couple of 'blind' holes which you'd play differently knowing the course. Some good looking holes as well.
Very friendly set up at the club and look forward to returning.
Excellent course
That was the first time I had played Brentwood GC and I thought it was excellent. The course is in excellent condition and the greens were perfect. It was a bit confusing at times to see what green you were playing but now I know so it will not be a problem. The course is suitable for all handicaps and I will certainly be back.
Great Course
I like playing tjis course. It's got a bit of everything - hills, water, each hole is different. But it was totalky spoilt this time by very slow play in front of us. We did speak to a marshall about it but he just shrugged his shoulders and said what could he do? Well how about going to the offending groups and either moving them on a hole or two or making them let golfers play through.
Really nice course in excellent condition
Played this when the weather was dreadful, rained for the full 18 holes. Given the conditions the fairways and greens were in excellent condition and only towards the end of the round were puddles starting to form on the greens. Tight course so staying straight off the tee helps. The holes are challenging and given the size of the course some are really picturesque. Not one of those courses you turn up to, smash a driver and an iron then get out the putter. Will be back
