Abridge Golf Club
Long time since I've played but really impressed. The course has had lots of updates , bridges, half way hut, rockery etc. This must be up there as at least top 5 course in Essex . Irrigation is must these days , full marks 👍
TOOOO BUSY!
Never in my life have I played a course so slow in my life. Played this course on a Wednesday morning at 11am - The course had a min of 10 4 balls of men in the age group of 60-80 one after the other. it was so slow that it took 4 and half hours to play 13 holes in which getting to the 14th tee there was 2 4 balls on the tee box with another 4 ball in the fairway of a par 3!
I then went to the clubhouse at 3:30pm after walking off to be told that there kitchen is shut and offer no food at the course unless I wanted a packet of crisps. I will never play this course again if it was the last course in history! Only good thing about this course was the Marshall who was very polite and understanding and tried to offer his apologises.
Fantastic course and club house! Couldn’t fault it at all
Denman review
Whilst the club itself had great amenities and friendly staff the course was sadly waterlogged and too many temporary greens were in use which we were not informed about.
This is definitely a summer golf course and really should have been closed on New Year’s Day and our green fees refunded.
very good course
great course , great staff , the day only spoilt by the amount of leafs on the course making it sometimes impossible to find your ball ...but that said, it is that time of year ....would definitely play again and recommend to friends
Avoid until next year
Last time we played here the course was immaculate just after the Euro-Pro event. However, they are now rebuilding the 2nd hole shich will be out of action until next year. They should not be charging full price green fees on this basis & should notify you before you book.
The round was also spoilt by a fourball with buggies who held up the whole course & refused to let anyone through. Not the fault of the club but contributed to a poor experience on this occasion.
Back to its best
Had n't played Abridge for a couple of years. In the interim period, they have spent a lot of time & effort on the course & it was in fantastic condition. They recently had a Euro Pro event & clearly this has had an influence. Well done to all the Green Staff for its excellent presentation.
A grand day out…
Played Abridge with a friend, who has put his heart and soul in to rediscovering golf but plays simple courses. He thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and experience.
I love the range of holes at this course which I have played on several Society outings. Greens and tees were great but fairways look like they had a tough winter.
Great facilities, excellent pro-shop, charming bar staff so good breakfast before and snack with a pint after.
Paid £45 per person which was fair.
Disappointing TBH
there's lots of work ongoing with the front 9, which is fine, but there's no mention of this when booking, and at £40 a round, it seems excessive looking back for that price range. the greens were quite true in roll, but some of them where in terrible condition. they have a real issue with people not repairing pitch marks here. biggest downside was that once we hit the 13th tee, there were 3 old boys holding up 4 groups behind without calling anyone through, and just back logged the course. Now you may think that's not the courses fault, but they have a marshal driving around all day, who does nothing??
Mr Soo from singapore
Was recommended by a local friend and seeing is believing, the course has doglegs and subtle bunkers and roughs that will punish golfers if you are not sharp in your approaches. The course is long from the back tee and demand driving accuracies.
Perfect condition fairways like carpet
Lovely course played it for the first time today, some lovely holes and the greens and fairways are flawless. Super quick greens and fairways like carpet. Great value for money book to play again tomorrow
True review
Friendly pro shop and helpful. Lovely club house and facilities. Clean / up to date. Great condition tee boxes / bunkers and greens. Played about a 10- 10.5 on the stim. Putts rolled well. Challenging course layout with the elevation and wind changes. Abridge is a must play.
