The course was ok but all the greens were Out of Play due to course maintenance. This was not mentioned at the time of booking.
Good value for money
Always fun to play especially if the wind is blowing. The Greens are a joy to putt on not too much rough to cause to much trouble the only thing that lets it down is some of the Tee boxes are a bit bare and should not be in use really should just put some Matt’s down and play off them and repair the overused ones
A Gem of a course!!
This 9 hole course is the closest thing you’ll get to playing a links without the coast but when the wind blows you really need to think about every shot so much so it can only
Improve your game.
The staff are very professional and welcoming nothing too much trouble and with a nice little clubhouse and changing facilities it’s a great little golf club and comes highly recommended especially for its ease of play if you’re like me in my senior years the course is on a plateau so it’s a lot kinder to your body!! Oh and last but not least the greens are in excellent condition.
Relaxing round
Always fun to play members advised me to start on hole 7 as there was a competition on many thanks course well maintained a few of the bunkers need a bit of attention but all in all very good
Don't let it full you.
It might be a flat walk but don't let that kid you. You need to keep the ball in play or your score will suffer ( just ask my son).
Try it I'm sure you will go back.
Sunny Day
Nice course for someone who has not played for a few months very well kept greens running quickly very peaceful and quiet
Decent Course BUT!!
Not a bad course to play and good value for money.
However, the green keeper was extremely rude and lazy. We had a tee time of 8.30am and couldn’t play most of the greens as the green keeper was watering all the greens. We had to keep turning them off but the green was waterlogged. Ruined our round of golf.
We asked why he wasn’t doing this before the course opened to which his reply was calling us C words. Terrible behaviour.
Good course, but basic
Good friendly staff and easy course if dry, but a bit basic.
Somewhere to play
Tried to play Wheathill but course was closed. Wincanton was in excellent condition, a few places were water logged but amazed it was open. When we played (just after midday) we pretty much had the course to ourselves. Several golfers in the clubhouse after their round, which is always good to see. Nice to be out on a winter day.
Lovely conditions and the course played really well but again such a shame about the clubhouse
Course played really nicely again today, the greens were immaculate and it was nice to see the course busy this afternoon but once again it was such a shame that once we’d finished our round at 15.30 the clubhouse was shut, it’s again such a shame because people were still playing out on the course and we were all looking forward to stopping in for a beer or two after our round to support the golf club and for such an early time on a FRIDAY afternoon it was such a shame that it was closed
Enjoyable round of golf but shame about when the round had finished
Course played nicely and was quiet so the pace of play was really good and wasn’t waiting at all, finished my 9 holes at 3pm and went into clubhouse to have a drink afterwards, unfortunately I went and was told by the person working in the club house that I could have a drink but she wasn’t planning on being open much longer so it would have to be a quick one,
Such a shame as there was still golfers out on the course and it just felt very early to be shutting the clubhouse and my drink felt very rushed after my round
Wincanton Golf Course
Flat easy to walk course, no big trees because it's in a racecourse, but there are plenty of hazards if you don't keep it on the fairway! It's a 9 hole course but has 18 tees.
Trash
Great little golf course, friendly staff and members. Great value for money . Can use all your clubs in the bag on a variety of holes. Great for new and old golfer's
Friendly golf
Great little golf course set within the race course at Wincanton, friendly welcoming staff and members.
Well laid out course with some strategically placed bunkers makes the course more of challenge than you'd think with some long par 4s and a couple of par 5s.!
Clubhouse facilities a bit limited at the moment, but you can get a pint and snacks and I gather there are improvements planned !👍
Great Course
Set in beautiful Wincanton race course this is a fantastic course and made challenging by the constant strong winds. Looking forward to play in again
Good Solid Course
I have played this course a few times.... it is certainly not championship but is superb value and allows me to particew most clubs in my bag. It is well maintained and friendly.....
