Cold Spring Country Club
About
Cold Spring Country Club is situated halfway between Springfield and Worcester. Opened in 2010 in an effort to bring world class golf to western Massachusetts, the club has since garnered a local following. The par-71 layout is unique in that it has six par 3s and five par 5s. There are also some par 4s in the 450-yard range. The 6,521-yard length indicated on the scorecard can be deceiving since it feels much longer when you're playing it. The golf course has plenty of variety, including dogleg lefts, doglegs rights, short holes, and long holes. Thanks to its mountaintop locale, Cold Spring C.C. offers stunning views that are as diverse as the holes. The vistas from the elevated tees and greens stretch to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and Vermont. From the golf course's highest tee box on the par-3 10th, you'll have a panoramic view of central Massachusetts.

The scenery is spectacularly panoramic at several of the Cold Spring tees and greens. This is the first hole, a par-three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A terrific par-5 of 490, the second demands good shotmaking to find this green safely. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A long par-5, eleven features strong ground movement from tee to green. A beautiful and challenging hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Although modern, the course maintains a natural feel. Secluded, too, on some holes, such as the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Early Season, Great Starter
The course was in decent shape for this early in the season. The tees could use some work and the greens were a little firm but it was expected in April. I played this course several times last year throughout the summer and I am sure it will be back to those standards in no time at all. The starter Mr. Rogers was great. He greeted us at the car and had us all set up for our round. It was a great experience. We will definitely be back and at 30.00 with cart through golf now you cannot beat the value.
Great Golf Great Day
My experience at Cold Springs was great from arrival to departure. The staff was very welcoming and helpful to me to link me up with the threesome I was playing with.
The course conditions were in great shape, especially for November. The greens had been aereated but about 3 weeks ago so the greens were in good shape and fairly true. The grounds staff had eliminated 90% of leaf debris on fairways and greens. With so many trying to take advantage of great golf weather, Sunny, calm and 60s the pace of play slowed down at the end but even with a noon start we finished before sunset,
I found the course enjoyable to play and fairly challenging but a lot of fun and would recommend it to friends to play.
cold spring
The course was in very good condition. Greens were excellent, fairways a little burnt out from drought. I would recommend the course to my golfing friends. The staff were friendly and helpful at the course.
Fun scenic track to golf
Fun and scenic track to play. Some visually challenging tee shots. Elevation changes and spread out course layout. The 9's have been flipped so you start on a long downhill par 3. A new young course that is sure to grow in and mature to be an enjoyable place to play again!
Very good Western Mass course.
Played with a couple of members and we played in 3 1/2 hours without rushing. Spent the most time looking for mishits off the fairway...leaves. Course and greens were in wonderful shape for this time of year. Nice variety of short and long holes. Suitable for all levels of players.
Pace of Play
Played the course on Oct 9 and have played here several times in the past. The course was in good condition for the amount of play that it receives. The problem of the day was the pace of play, not good at all. Doesn't make any sense to have two sets of twosomes in front of us and then two sets of twosomes behind us. A lot of agrevated golfers. Why not put the the twosomes together to make a foursome. Poor planning by the pro shop...
Great Course in Western MA
Course was in great shape despite the lack of rain over the past several months. Great views and Fall foliage. Tees and Greens were in great shape and the fairways were lush with no burnt areas due to drought conditions. Restaurant overlooks 18 and is a great place to stop for a drink and food after the round. Pace of play was great as we didn't see group in front of us or behind us for most of day. Highly recommend Cold Spring for 18 thrilling holes.
Great place for a round of golf
Awesome staff and a really fun place to play. Fairways a little rough but that was our weather this year (very little rain).
No, I'm not related to anyone at the course.
Worth the trip to Western Mass
Beautiful views and nice course for the money.
Not as expected....
An absolutely "sterling" day for golf with bright sun and temps in the mid-70's. Very personable bag boy and quite pleasant young gentleman manning the Pro Shop (who let us go out as a twosome!) I've heard plenty of great things about this course--especially the fact that it remained "unopened" for an entire year before allowing play---until the conditions were impeccable. Well, that wasn't really the case yesterday as the fairways were very splotchy-with grass tufts and dead spots everywhere. Tee boxes were nothing to rave about either. The greens had just been plugged, so we never really got a chance to see them in their prime. So much poison ivy just off the fairways on a few holes there are warning signs to avoid it. Time for a Roundup application or two?
The course would be nearly impossible to walk (without holding up play) as there are quite a few lengthy green-to-tee distances to be navigated throughout the course.
Some very interesting holes-including the short 9th---but be wary, as it's all a very deceiving steep uphill!! We will definitely return here for more golf when our weather changes and drops some much needed water on the course....as we've had a very dry summer here in Western Mass!
No Flat Spots In Sight
I'm a high handicapper so very narrow, hilly, undulating fairways don't do me much good in the fun department. The course is beautiful in its location but the drought has done much harm to the fairways and many of the greens. Oh, and forget about any advantages from the senior tees. The angles on the day I played were almost not playable for me. Enjoyed very much the 2 gentlemen I played with but not the round.
Very Scenic & interesting layout.
Not a long course, but yet very challenging. Plenty of scoring opportunities if your hitting the ball well. The coarse was in excellent condition with the exception of a couple of fairways which is very commendable for the lack of rain we've had. We had a nice close encounter with a doe and her fawn.
Highly recommended
The course was in good condition considering the dry got summer. The layout was great and the views are awesome. Highly recommended
Good time
Cold Spring was a pleasure to play. The staff was friendly, as usual, and the course was in very good shape considering the lack of rainfall this summer. The pace was good as there was no one ahead of us, but hit them straight, otherwise you'll lose lots of balls. As with my last round there, I did not tee off until about 35 minutes after the scheduled time. That to me is a bummer. I think the course was waiting for the remainder of the group, which I did not know, to show up. So if time is tight do not expect to tee of at the scheduled time, I have not my last two rounds. But otherwise a pleasant experience. I look forward to returning.
Great all around golf course
I will continue to play here!
A gem
Amazing views and great conditions with a challenging layout. Safari Club outing that always pleases. Patio at 19th hole is a must !!!!
HOT, HOT HOT
PLAYED ON A VERY HOT DAY AND NEVER SAW A DRINK CART, SURPRISING FOR A SUNDAY. FRONT AND BACK NINES HAVE BEEN SWITCHED WHICH WAS A GREAT MOVE. FAIRWAYS WERE VERY BROWN AND DRY, NOT SURPRISING CONSIDERING THE WEATHER AND LACK OF RAIN OF LATE. RANGE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR WARM UP.
Course conditions not very good
The course was extremely dry with lack of rain Most of the fairways were brown with very little grass. I have played this course many times and usually really like it. I am hoping some rain will bring it back
Brown and out
We played Cold Spring for the first time in several weeks. What a difference from earlier in June...the fairways were brown and most of the tees were little more than dirt. I was told that the sprinkler system had been down for the last three weeks and it showed. The good news is the greens were still in good shape and the replacement parts for the irrigation system had been received so the course should begin to look better. I don't know if they'll be able to save what little grass there was on the tees.
