Old Edwards Club

I played this course because my wife and I stayed at an Old Edwards property in Highlands, NC. Just like the review before, it is a tale of two nines. The front is in a valley and pretty straightforward. The back is a true mountain course with major elevation changes especially hole 18. I played one week after they reopened for the season and after hurricane Helene hit. They have done a great job repairing the course after hole 10 slid downhill and tried to become hole 18. All the greens have subtle breaks but are straightforward. The staff are very friendly and courteous and range balls are included. They have a comfort station on each nine with snacks and sodas included as well. I gave 4 stars overall because the price was high. I'd give 5 stars if it was $50 less.

There’s mountain golf and then there is this.

Old Edwards offers dramatic elevation change and tremendous shot and scenic value. I still haven’t decided whether the course seduces you to be too bold or too conservative off the tee. There are almost too many options and second-guessing oneself tends to rear it’s head throughout the round.

As finishing holes go, this one has few peers when it comes to sheer exhilaration.
