Great course
This course is very interesting. Some challenging holes. Nice layout. Secluded holes, water, some hills. Bunkers weren’t amazing condition, but ok. Pace of play was ok for Saturday morning, though it was too crowded.
Big drop in standards
Not only was the pace of play tedious taking 4 hours and 20 minutes, and this could easily be due to only 8 minutes between each tee time; but the facilities around the course were and are getting bad. Not one golf ball washer I found had water in it, and most did not even work. The Tees were a bit sad too.
Excellent condition
Course was in the best condition I have ever seen it in. Fairways were amazing, greens excellent and a lot of the tee boxes look like they have been freshly laid.
Slow Play
Good course but having 8 minute tee times was really noticeable. On most holes there were 3 groups playing the hole. On the 9th, there were 3 groups on the tee and 2 groups playing the hole. In total it took us 6 hours to get round.
Cheshunt Park
Course drying out well after the winter, still playing of mats and not tee box, looking good for the coming summer months
Not Great
It was OK.. all holes still on mats. Some.fairways quite bare and not cut. No markers clearly visible on fairways
Worst kept course I’ve played on
Shocking conditions. No attempt to look after the course. Wouldn’t recommend and never returning. Waste of money.
Dreadful Winter Course
I love Cheshunt, I was brought up there and played the course as a kid and I'm now 50.
It has always been a superb public course and well maintained.
The course shows signs of being a terrific summer course with all the tee boxes and hazards waiting to flourish, it's there for you to visualise how good it is in the summer.
They are sadly being greedy October - March and the 2nd hole is a swamp as is the dog leg left 6th which is a real shame, it's unplayable and I'm off 6.1 .
I didn't even bother with the back 9 and walked off the course, this wouldn't have happened under greenkeeper Mr Standing and his men.
It will be lovely in summer I have no doubt and it hurts me reviewing it this way, but avoid in the winter months.
The range has really bad golf balls and is of poor standard but do give it a go in summer.
I'm sure my old stomping ground won't disappoint, but I think I've moved on
