AV golf
A very nice place to play. Well taken care of. Challenging, but not so much so as less than very good golfers can’t gave fun. Not overrun by the idiot “golfers” with no respect for the course or the game.
Nice course
Course in good condition. Greens were in better condition then the fairways.
Great day out
The last time I played this course they had just punched the greens and the front side of the course was closed. This was a much better experience, the greens were fantastic. The fairways, teeboxes and over all condition of the course was good the only draw back was there were multiple bunkers that were overly wet or full of water.
The course is in good condition. Greens were slower then normal. Maintenance staff does not know how to get out of the way most of the time and are a distraction mowing in front and behind during shots. Over all a enjoyable round
Time to aerate
When I arrived for my tee time I was told they were starting to aerate the back nine so that we had to play the front nine twice. Beautiful day 74 degrees and zero wind.
Greens were slower than usual, but still putt true to your read. Tee boxes were adjusted at various holes to allow for winter recovery. Practice putting green was being aerated as well so no practice putts. Still a great time at a very fun golf course.
Great Day In Apple Valley
What a nice day for golf. A sunny 74 degrees and zero wind. All fairways are in the suspected winter condition, thin dried grass with a good amount of roll after carry.
As usual the greens were in good shape and rolled true to your read. Pace of play was great at 3hrs for 18.
NOT BAD FOR 1st WEEK of MARCH
With all of the funky weather this time of year the fairways are semi brown on most holes. The greens are in excellent shape, they are fast and roll true to your read. The bunkers have decent sand and play great when damp. As for the staff here...super friendly. Looking forward to my next round here.
Leisurely Round
Nice day to play after the rain yesterday, greens were perfect.
Worth playing more than once
Morning tee time, sunny no wind.
Course was in great shape fairways were full, rough was cut at 2 inches or so.
The greens we're true and very fast.
The staff was friendly.
Golf course maintenance was courteous.
I would recommend this course to anyone and to play it more than once. Great layout and it gets better each time you play it.
Too much work being done
Honestly speaking, there was just too much maintenance going on.... had to play the back 9 twice. Overbooked for everyone to play 18 on only 9 holes... greens were like putting on a thin layer of beach sand and god forbid you hit into a bunker that’s full of mud or a huge puddle. Pace was insanely slow with the amount of people right on top of eachother with the addition of a few elderly men walking the course. I totally understand that but things were often at a stand still. So for players trying to get a nice fairly quick 18 in that was just impossible because there was no jumping or skipping holes.... the course just seemed in very bad shape compared to Ashwood or even green tree... it all added up to a very unpleasant experience.
Apple Valley GC
This course is real nice. Good tee boxes nice greens. Fairways are very narrow so it makes this course tough. Don't even think they are 30 yards wide. Not much room for error here. Would for sure go back for the challenge.
Good round
Last minute choice to fit in a round, had to wait on the men's club but it wasn't that long. The tee boxes and greens were in great condition, fairways were in very good condition my only complaint today was that all the bunkers were packed down from being wet.
Like the course
I like the course and the staff is very friendly I try to play 2 times a week I need the exercise and it keeps me sane I plan on going as much as I can..
Nice lines well kept very nice
Staff was very friendly from Pro shop to the cart guys. Very pleasant atmosphere well kept very nice.
A real challenge
Tired of playing manicured flat courses? Apple Mountain will test every shot in your bag and then some. It's where position off the tee becomes more important than the club you use, where you really need to think your way around the course.
Absolutely love this course. We should all be so lucky to be able to play Apple Mountain.
I know that I'll be back. Many times.
Smooth greens
This is the best public golf course in the high desert, hands down. Granted, we only have four, but still, I’ve played all over the Inland Empire, and for the fees, AVGC, is in better condition than most. I still wish they would do something to make the sand in the green side bunkers more playable (it’s like hitting off the cart path). But, overall the men that maintain this course do a fantastic job. I say thanks every time I see them. Don’t get stuck behind the men’s club on Saturday, none of them will let you play through even if they have two holes clear ahead of them. If you can handle the wind and heat, afternoons are a joy.
Great High Desert Golfing
Apple Valley Golf Course has a really interesting history and many celebrities played the course back in the 50's and 60's. It's really fun to play a course with such a celebrated pedigree. The great professional golfer, US Open and 36 PGA Tour winning Lloyd Mangrum was the pro there from the 50's through 1973 and the course was private for many years but now it is a public course. I would say it's the best course in the high desert with a relatively simple but scenic layout that is deceptive in it's challenges. Right now the course is in fantastic condition with excellent greens, nice full fairways, groomed bunkers with real sand and the rough is lush. Overall this is well worth the trip if you're not from the area.
