I have played this course several times. The fairways are wide open and today were pretty firm along with the greens, they had no bite and even the softest chip would roll out. The sand traps are a while separate issue. You would think that being an executive course and being basically in the desert the sand would be better, however it has tons of rocks in it and were like hitting off of cement. I do like that the driving range does not use mats like so many courses do.
Thank you for playing with us multiple times and for taking the time to give such detailed feedback. We really appreciate that.
At Ashwood Golf Course, firmness can definitely fluctuate depending on weather and irrigation cycles, especially with our desert climate. When the greens and fairways firm up, it can change the way the course plays and create that extra rollout you experienced. We continue working to balance firmness with playability so the surfaces stay healthy while still holding quality shots.
You’re absolutely right about the bunkers being a separate issue. Rock intrusion and firmness are ongoing challenges for us, and we know that can be frustrating. Improvements are in progress, and bunker consistency remains a priority.
We’re glad you mentioned the driving range as well. Keeping it grass instead of mats is important to us, and we’re happy you value that.
Thank you again for the honest review. We hope to keep improving and give you an even better experience next time out.
Nice Course
Three 9 hole courses. Good condition with an excellent staff !
Thank you for the great review. We appreciate it.
At Ashwood Golf Course, having three distinct 9 hole courses gives players a lot of variety, and we’re glad you found them in good condition. Even more importantly, we’re proud of our staff, so your kind words about the team mean a lot.
We look forward to seeing you back out for another round soon.
Always improving!
I play Ashwood a lot because it’s a fairly challenging course and the staff is really friendly. It’s not the longest course with par 4’s and 3’s with no par 5’s, but the water, the narrow fairways and the bunkers make it challenging. Most of the bunkers need help but they are fixing some of them, other could use a raking to remove the rocks and pebbles.
Thank you for being a loyal player and for the thoughtful feedback. We truly appreciate you choosing to play Ashwood Golf Course regularly.
You described the course exactly as intended. It is not the longest layout, but with the water, tighter landing areas, and strategic bunkering, it demands accuracy and good decision making. We’re glad you enjoy that challenge and that our team continues to make you feel welcome.
You’re also absolutely right about the bunkers. Some have already been repaired, and we are continuing to address others. Removing rocks and improving consistency is part of that ongoing work. It does not happen overnight, but it is a priority.
We appreciate the honest input and your continued support. We look forward to seeing you out there again soon.
Nice Course - Great Pace of Play
I stopped off here on the way from L.A. to Vegas.
1st - the breakfast burrito is awesome! Service in the restaurant was fantastic and I headed out on to the course feeling very happy with full belly!
The staff at the proshop are super helpful and nice - I was early for my tee-time and with no-one ahead of me, they sent me straight out, which was very considerate and really appreciated. The golf cart was in fine fettle and worked nicely all round.
The course is set up as 3 x 9 holes - I played "Sycamore" & "Mesquite" - there are no par 5's and the par 4's are quite short, but this is still a challenging course - lots of water on the front 9 (which I found a lot) and the fairways are quite tight.
Greens were rolling fast and true, fairways were in good condition, the only detractor was the bunkers, which are hard and stony (if these had been full of soft sand, this review would have been 5 out of 5).
I came back the following day (on my way home) and played the other 9 holes "Birch" - it was very similar to the other 9's.
I will definitely be back to play this course again.
Thank you for such a detailed review and for making us part of your L.A. to Vegas trip, twice. That means a lot.
We’re glad you enjoyed the breakfast burrito and restaurant service before your round. Starting the day with good food and great hospitality is exactly how it should be. I’ll be sure to pass that along to the restaurant team.
It’s also great to hear our golf shop staff took care of you and got you out early. When we have the space to do that, we’re always happy to help.
You described the layout of Ashwood Golf Course perfectly. Three distinct 9s, no par 5s, shorter par 4s, but plenty of challenge with tight fairways and water in play. Sycamore and Mesquite can definitely test accuracy, and Birch keeps that same shot making demand. I’m glad you got to experience all 27.
We appreciate the honest feedback about the bunkers. That is an area we are actively working to improve. Consistency and better sand conditions are a priority, and we know that can be the difference between a very good round and a five star one.
Safe travels on your future trips, and we look forward to seeing you again next time you’re passing through.
Amazing value
This golf course was a reminder of golf before Covid where you could get a hot deal and get out there and have a great round the course was great and it played great 18 holes in 3 and a half hours
Thank you for that great perspective. That’s exactly the kind of experience we strive to provide.
We’re proud to offer solid value and a pace of play that lets you enjoy your round without it turning into an all day event. Hearing that it felt like golf “before Covid” in the best way is a compliment to our team and the effort we put into keeping things running smoothly at Ashwood Golf Course.
We appreciate you coming out and hope to see you back for another 3½ hour round soon.

Thank you for the great review. Under 3 hours for 18 on a Sunday is a win in anyone’s book.
You’re absolutely right, Ashwood Golf Course offers a layout with a strong mix of par 3s and par 4s, which keeps things moving while still demanding good shot making. It’s a fun change of pace and perfect for players who enjoy a quicker round without sacrificing challenge.
We’re glad your first visit was a good one, and we look forward to having you back out again soon.
