Below average course
This executive course was acceptable. On a scale of A-F it would receive the D grade meaning barely passing. Check in was easy, convenient bag drop and plenty of parking. These would be the pros of the course. A lot of cons will follow. Course conditions were sub-par. Many areas had dead grass. We were squeezed in for a 10:52AM tee time via GolfNow. Slow party of four in front of us and according to the employee who saw us on our way at hole #1, there was a tournament starting behind us at 11:00AM. Many tee boxes were not in good condition. Animal droppings all over the place. I had to be careful where I placed my irons. Drink cart lady drive by once. The most frustrating item to me is that there are NO references as to the layout of each individual hole. No picture on the scorecard detailing the layout of each hole. At the holes themselves there’s just the rock that tells you yardage to the pin. Some holes you have no idea where the pin is. Looking for a flag is your only hope. I know there are 13 par 3 holes and four par 4 holes. But where are the pins located at??? I would not recommend this course.
PLayer Development Player Birch Hills
Overall golf course is well maintained. Maintenance crew watering green on first hole caused it to be a bit slow all others were okay. We had an 11:00 Tee time and so did another player. Players back track a couple of holes and break your rythm because of wait time, which extends your game. Green Fees are inconsistent and charged according to staff running register. Carts are clean and ready to go. Hot Deals are fantastic thru Golf Now
Relaxing course for all levels
Great place for Husband/wife golf with Drinks and good food after!
Fun coarse.
Great course to fine tune your iron shots. The toughest hole on the course is 8. Short little 70 yard chip shot but nowhere to land the ball, to short you’re in the bunker, to long in another bunker and nowhere to roll the ball up on the green because the fairway angulation causes the ball to roll towards the bunker. The bad thing about this course is the pace of play, four hours to play. At one hole, a par four, the group ahead of us took 15 minutes play the hole...frustrating as heck. But it’s a really fun course, we’ll be back for sure.
Locals Say 10-1030am is the time
Read all these reviews about marshals speeding up play. I was there around 11-1130 and it was absolutely brutal how slow it was. At LEAST 2-3 groups deep on every single tee box...every single hole. Zero marshals. Just brutal.
NICE WALK
This is a quick 18 holes easy to walk. It was a "slow" round and still made it in at 4 hours. A great place for me to hone my wedge game.
Great course
Great course for working on your irons. Can't wait to go back.
Staff are rude
As we were playing, staff approaches and tells us we have to play faster. Not our fault someone showed up late and is causing congestion on the course. We were even asked if we can let the late group pass through. Sorry course management.
Worst experience
I play this course quite a bit, and usually book through golf now, cause it’s usually better pricing. I got there before my party and paid for my round, when he showed up the staff tried to charge him for regular price. Because of the confusion we got held back on our tee time. We ended up pairing up with the group ahead of us because it was backed up on the 4 hole. We were fine once we got to 10th hole, but the Marshall came up to us and asked us to hurry our pace of play. When we got to the next hole, we ended up waiting again. Not sure why he asked us to hurry our pace. This course recently placed a Marshall at the first hole(10 is right next to it) and it’s only made the pace here worse. He was also giving us trouble about our cooler, we had water and Gatorade in. Not sure if I’ll play here again, maybe only if it’s not busy.
Birch Hills
Fast, fun short course. Mostly par 3's, with a few short par 4's mixed in. The greens and course in general were in good shape. We played our round in a little over 3 hours. Driving range and practice putting green to warm up. It's not an exclusive high dollar golf club, but it's a great value for the golfer looking to have a fun round of golf.
Quick Tune Up
Greens were in great shape, slowed a little on the back but still a 3 hour round on a Saturday
Nice short course
The course is kept up pretty nicely. I would suggest a Marshall to keep play moving. They let a lot of twosomes go out and then you have to group up as foursomes after a few holes or move ahead of a slow foursome to not have to wait 10 minutes at each hole. I think they need to pair up twosomes on the first hole. A starter or overhead speaker to say who is supposed to tee off together and when, would be very helpful.
The restaurant has very good food and reasonably priced. I would highly suggest it if you are playing golf or not. Definitely get your tee time from Golf Now or other deal. It's kind of expensive if you just walk up to play.
Nice little executive course
Birch Hills is a nice, relatively short, Executive length golf course. Overall, the course is in very good shape. The greens look a little neglected, but rolled true. No bumpiness, no fungus patches. Should look fine after the next punching. Fairways on the par 4 holes are good, well grassed and make for good approach shots. The front 9 has several short par 3 holes, good for testing your iron game. The back 9 has some longer par 3 holes. Water on some of the holes adds to the challenge. A very enjoyable course to play. Electric power carts are available and the course is walkable if you want some extra exercise. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Quick round during the week.
Sometimes you can get through this course in less than 3 hours in the afternoon. Staff is super friendly and the club house is rockin! Last week Friday I was stoked playing late afternoon while the music was pumping from the club house on the back nine!
I will not be back
You could play this course with three irons a 3 wood and a putter. They have tried to pack 18 holes into to little of land. It has patchy hard pan everywhere. The water never really comes into play. The greens are not difficult to read. I will not be back.
Horrible
Small course, horrible tee boxes and greens, fair ways weren't the worst but they could be better. Played 4 holes and decided it wasn't worth it what so ever.
Fun course w some very nice holes...
