Good course, slow pace
Nice day, nice course. Bunkers are a bit lacking but not the worst I've seen -- but certainly not the best. Biggest issue was pace of play -- just over 4 hours for an exec course is too long.
Greens were a bit beat up from people not fixing their ball marks.
Good greens and traps.
Enjoyed the round. Fairways in good shape and rough not extreme. Most categories were excellent.
Soooo Slooooow
When I played this weekend, it was undoubtedly the worst experience I have ever encountered regarding the pace of play. Groups were backed up 3 sometimes 4 deep. It was so frustrating I ended up leaving on the 15th hole.
At one point the marshal came up to my group as we waited for the group in front of us to finish putting, and asked why we hadn't tee off yet, can you reach the green. I said it is 240ys to the green, yes.
Several points to improve Birch Hills GC!
First of all, I do care about this golf course; that’s why I repair every green divot mark on every holes each time I play here( more than 100 repairs per round). This is the main reason why a least green is above average. There are too many players who don’t care and leave all divot marks all over the green!
Now, restroom on #2 hole is covered a lot of dust and I don’t feel clean. Pls. Clean with water hose and Supervisor should send often to clean those both restrooms !
Again, tee ground is big; but tee position always stay same throughout week. Pls. Move back and forward . Not moving is the main reason that tee grounds are all naked most of time!
All staffs inside of building are polite and nice; but some stater of outside should be more flexible and nicer toward players. There is guy like “Jeff” who act like hitler to customer. He is rude when ask something nicely; provoking to fight that harassing customers by behaving with fighting words! I don’t like at all! We are here to play and hace a good time; and don’t want to ruin from the start! Supervisor, pls train your stayers to be more nice to players who play a lot and taking care of your golf course in many ways!
Lastly , golf course rate went up dramatically; as a senior we can’t afford if goes too much!!! This Birch Hills senior discount is too small(only $2~3). There should have more senior discount rates in the morning and also in the afternoon( twilight).Discount rates are posted, but is irregular !!! Even whatever 1year membership rate isn’t that good either. Think about it; if we pay every golf courses membership on every Orange County course; we end up paying more money on membership money like sky!!!! It’s not right!
At least give us more discount rates on golfnow , which we are paying our membership every year. Why public golf course ( American Golf Co. public county courses) want as pay membership and discriminate us every times on checking time. Make us feel like sinner, when they ask “are you a member?”. Pls don’t ask that question ; we just try to play golf ! We are senior player ; then give senior discount rate during the week ( Monday- Friday ) ; so be it!
Well… hope these comments were constructive!! Our goal in 2025 is to be a better player! Hope Birch Hills management help us archive that goal by listening our suggestions !
Short winter day
HAD A nice day playing with a 2some and a single,
we took turns hitting em good and hitting em bad.my putting let me down.
Short winter day
Had good weather. Joined a nice 3some. teetime was almost too late.
I wish there were more executive 18 like this course.
Good tee time, weak body!
Joined a sister, brother and sister's boyfriend for this round. Nice young adults out for some fun.
We made it through the round at a fair pace. Somebody complained about our pace.
fished some balls from the ponds.
I struggled (bad legs) to the finish but had a good time with the help of my companions.
Not bad
Greens got better … new tee boxes are an improvement. Pace of play can be an Issue depending on the skill level of players around you.
Greens are in pure condition
The greens are rolling beautifully after aerating has been completed… wonderful practice course to sharpen your irons. Most importantly, the staff will always assist you with a smile! One of my favorite courses in Orange County!
