Horrible
The greens were slick and smooth, the fairways trimmed to perfection, and the tee boxes were tee boxes. If you thought california was in a drought, look no further. This course is pure. Pure green! Along with all the houses on the course! Believe me they are not cutting back on watering those lawns! Overall the course was great, I was horrible! If I could go again today, your bet your buttocks I would. If I could leave my fiancé at home so I don't have to pay 15 dollars just to have her ride in the cart with me, you bet your buttocks I would!
Great change of Pace
Played Pheasant Run because I was bored with the courses around Modesto and had heard good things about the course. From Modesto it is a 60m ride, but all freeway so easy to get there. The course is a little long for me, but is in good shape. Greens were nice and held the line. The fairways are cut narrow, but surrounded by light rough so the course feels open. The wind was up (25-30 mph) so it made for a very interesting round.. Had a good time met some nice people and will definitely be back.
Challenge your skills.
Played with a group of guys (2 tee times) and had an enjoyable round of golf. The back nine is the real fun part due, in part, to the water. I recommend this course to all that enjoy this game.
awesome course
this is a great place that will challenge all your skills. there is sand water. I like that there are drivable par 5 if you got the help of the wind. well at least with us short hitters
highly recomned course
hade a geat time with guys go course conditons challenging
Book it
Greens are in excellent shape. Tees and fairways are really good for this time of year. Hats off to the greens keepers and grounds crew. Do your best to keep it in the fairway and you will be rewarded. Lots of birdies to be had. Go play now.
Club members are disgusting.
Played behind two groups of club members. They continually drove their carts up to within a few feet of tee boxes and greens. One of the "Gentlemen" stood and carried on with cell phone calls while we waited, on several occasions. I continually repaired fresh ball marks on every green for 18 holes. Even members should follow general etiquette. Really detracted from what should have been a nice day of golf.
nice
my wife and I enjoy playing this course. the staff have been very nice. and the course is nice.
Nice
My wife and I enjoy playing this course. The staff iare very nice and polite, and the course is nice. We drive from Kerman to enjoy a day at this facility.
Long Holes and Fast Greens
Your long game is tested on this course. A few holes are unreachable for the average golfer. It's pretty wide open but the wind makes it challenging. Not too many hazards that eat up your balls. The greens are faster than most courses I've played. Long hitters won't have anything to complain about with this course.
Great course
Had a great day golfing, I normally prefer to walk, got great exercise and played my best game ever.
Worth playing
This is a good course to play. Greens are large and fast. You can score if you keep ball in play. Would like some more sand in traps I visited. Took 4 guys and will come back again. Sanger 4 some....
Chowchilla's best asset
This course is a good one for the rotation. The greens were spotty to the eye (aerification weeks ago), but they were rolling true and fast. The finally cooling weather has resulted in the first fast greens of the fall and the slopes/tiers/shelves on these large greens, combined with the speed, make putting challenging and fun.
Pace - 4.5, average for a weekend
Course - Still some spots coming out of summer/drought that need work, but the greens were very smooth/quick, bunkers were inconsistent and need serious work
Staff - Friendly and helpful and comely according to my younger playing companions
Value - Good/Average off the rack, typically there are great hot deals offered on weekdays
Food - Typical course fare, well prepared and priced
Facilities - Nice, clean but wish the patio was more spacious (not including the temporary tent they had set up)
This course is on the verge of 4 stars based on the design and challenge, with only a step up in conditioning (bunkers, bare spots, and did I mention bunkers) keeping it at 3 for me.
SLOOOOOOW!
Beautiful Sunday late morning, 3 hour front nine, and I was done. Nice course, challenging, big fast greens. There's a lot to like, but the pace of play was atrocious. One short appearance by a marshall with no actions to speed up play.
I might go back, but not on a weekend.
GREAT course
I would recommend this course to an avid golfer. The greens are ALWAYS in immaculate condition. The speed varies each time I go, but that's the beauty of golf. You have to adjust.
Overwatered course!
Do not expect your drives to roll on the soaked fairway or even your 2nd shot to roll much. Ball had mud on just about every shot to the green. I thought there was a drought in CA, but apparently in Chowchilla they have excess water because the course was very soaked. Front 9 greens were very slow, back 9 greens were a little faster. Bunkers were either wet, or hard pan. Nice course design though, convenient practice range. Will not drive back from Fresno, until the conditions improve.
Pheasant Run/ Chowchilla
There are some areas that are soggy but 90% of the course is great lies. Just stay in the fairway and the crab grass won't hurt your lie. Long par 4's. The staff are good people and have class. Rates a bit high but if u want a challenge, then this course provides it. Nice greens (10-11) speed. Many sloped greens.
Great deal on GolfNow
Got a great deal on GolfNow. The course was in good condition except for way too much water on the entire course.
Island green feature on 18
A bit long for us short hitting seniors. Four par fours over 400 yards. Never the less the course is fair and even with annual green maintenance the greens were in good shape. Would I play it again - yes.
