Slow play on a Thursday?
Backed up on second hole 3 deep. Called the clubhouse to no avail. Didn’t seem to care about pace of play. I’m guessing they don’t want to upset anyone because they want to lose the business….ironic.
Makes for a great day!
Love this course.. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Layout of the course if fun. Lots of variety.
Start or finish the day on the great patio restaurant and bar.
The Course Could Use Some Help
Always enjoy the layout and playability of St. Mark and am usually really happy with the condition of the course and pace of play. Yesterday, though, both weren’t up to standards. Tee boxes on several holes had little or no grass on them, and were either muddy or sandy, and until we drove up to the players in front of us (wrong tees, lack of awareness of etiquette, and VERY slow play) to talk to them about their pace of play, it was a slog. We didn’t see a Marshall the entire round, and the one time we saw a beverage cart, the attendant was doing something on her phone, and drove away without looking up at us. I’ll be back because it’s close and it’s good value, but it was disappointing yesterday.
Lousy course design
I would not want to own a home in the neighborhood bordering this course. Way too many opportunities to get hit. Fortunately I did not hit it OB, but it did cause me to adjust my aim over the ideal route. Others in my foursome did hit rooftops on several occasions. Weird doglegs, hitting over OB markers on a par 3. I would not want to play here on a regular basis.
$96 is way to pricy for what you get - $25 for a buggy!!!
Booked with GolfNow for $71 ($68 = fees) and I was a single. Got paired up with a twosome and when I checked in, I was quoted $25 for a golf buggy, on top of the $71 paid. I was shocked as most courses would charge you half price, especially since they were the ones sending you out as a single out, not by my choice or asking. The fairways were wet and marshy. We had a temp tee box, badly looked after tee boxes, some greens with grass and surface issues and a few bunkers with water and mud, zero sand. So not worth $96 dollars. You can find friendly courses that do not price gouge. I ended up using my own push cart on a very hot day. One could see charging prices if golf buggies were scarce but there was plenty when we started, when we came off the 9th and at the end of the round. Zero effort by club to accommodate. Most courses quote prices that include buggies, and I feel Golf Now should include the expected price of a buggy on their walking rate quotes, as a side note. Especially since there is no option to book a round which included the buggy. That pleasant surprise, is kept til check in and you have a captive audience. Something tells me, that is the way this course wants it. Disappointing..
Great for the price
Greens are SLICK! Impressed with greens but the fairways were GUR in several spots. I would play again.
Great play
Beautiful course! Some marshy spots next to the fairway, but won’t stop me from coming back.
Be careful!
As far as course conditions, a bit deteriorated from 2weeks ago when I played … some tee boxes under repair and some greens have creeping dead spots on the edges.
I’ve said before, $40.00 course at best … less than that now..
I must however mention that I’m not going to be playing this course for a while. Masking is whimsical, supersoreader event late in the day overflowing to walkways outside restaurant.
And what’s the deal with these giant personally owned “golf carts” if you can call them that. They are allowed to park the atv’s next to restaurant in back and that’s the only walkway to #10.
I had to walk through a gamut of drinking maskless post golf revelers going and coming.
Hey look I’m all for a good time but I’d like a safer environment. I can’t risk my family’s health. They should try to accommodate them at another place out in front.
“A good walk spoiled.” I’m afraid.
Shot making course
Nit long but you have to be able to stay straight or use your draw or fade fir ball position.
