St. Marlo Country Club

There was no warning that six or eight of the holes had temporary greens. The club/starter/marshal allowed a group of six to play in front of our threesome, one of whom was a novice who received lessons during the three hour front nine. The cart girl was very nice and apologetic.

9 or 10 holes were in the temporary greens, and they said

the conditions would be like that until next year( they hope).

I should known before checked in. I think they should close the course for their reputation they built.

I was trying to get my daughter into golf, but they hit me with a non-golfer fee. The course was pretty average and didn't really live up to what I expected from my first few times playing.

Greens are trashed they have secondary greens and the course is a sloppy mess. Such a mistake to try and play this course never again.

This was not a typical visit to St Marlo. There were 9 temporary greens due to green damage that had occurred. They were working to restore them but the discounted rate made it well worth it. This one of the premier courses in the area and shouldn’t be missed. It’s a challenging course with great scenery and a nice layout. The facilities are solid and the clubhouse is fantastic. The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating. I’ll definitely play again, and so should anyone else who wants a great local golf experience.

The booking said aerated so I booked it anyway. Turns out greens were under repair and they had temporary greens in the fairway

I was excited to play St Marlo and had never been there before. The staff was very friendly however, the course was not in good condition. First, the practice putting green was closed and the starter could not give a reason why. Understandably, it was cart path only due to heavy rains the night before but the drainage there is obviously horrible as it was a muddy mess walking on the course on every hole. I almost wiped out once slipping in the muddy grass. But probably the worst problem they have right now are their greens. Most holes were not even playable. We decided to take a two putt max and move on. I believe it’s a fungus that covers the greens which they then coated with sand. Worst greens I’ve ever encountered. Pace of play was painfully slow- not sure why but it was a painful five hours that I don’t want to repeat. Also, if the cart service is only going to go around twice in 18 holes, you need water coolers on several holes. One water station at the bathroom is not enough in hot weather.

All of the greens are trash, look at the picture. They have a huge drainage issue at their fairways and in general at the entire course. I think they are watering the course when they don't need to, specially after all the rain we've been getting. I've played $30 muni courses that are better than St. Marlo.

So they warn you that the greens are bad but you expect it to still be playable, boy was I wrong. You could create better greens in your backyard. Playing here made me want to never play golf again, you’re better off donating to the homeless. Not only that, we had a group of 4 drunk goofies that took 30 minutes each hole, I completely understand now why some people crashout at courses lol. I see why reading reviews are important. They should be paying people to play at this course, not the other way around.

This is a course you don't want to pay even a one dollar. The golfpass that makes you play in places like this is just like trash. I want to get my money back. It shouldn’t open to public

St. Marlo wouldn’t let my foreign buddy who had a passport in the gate. They said that he needed a drivers license, but he didn’t have one. They hate foreigners.

I’ve played this course twice this year and hadn’t been back in about a month and a half. My Third round unfortunately was extremely disappointing. For the price I paid, the course and overall experience simply weren’t worth it. I’ve played here enough to know what this course can be like, which made it even more frustrating. At this price point, I expected much better and left feeling like I overpaid.

Obviously their greens are in bad shape right now, which they’re closing down to fix. Majority of the bunkers were also in rough shape.

That said, considering the discount they’re offering due to the greens, along with everything else being nice (tee boxes, fairways, facilities, customer service), I thought this was a fair course to play for the price while the greens are at least open. $65 to play on several temporary greens will not be worth it, though.
