Nice Challenging Course
Agreed with other reviews that cart paths were n terrible shape!! But the management has taken into consideration and have recently repaired most of the broken up cart paths that literally threw you out of your cart. Not only the cart paths have been fixed, the Greens have recently been repaired and painted to resemble some of the finer golf courses in the area. Now, if players can do their part and repair the ball marks on the Greens, this could be a fun course to play year round. There are many scenic holes and is a tough and challenging course compared to the surrounding Club Corp courses.
The sand bunkers were also being raked while I was playing but some of the bunkers and Tee boxes need attention. You can see the fabric on some of the bunkers. Not good. I say if the players repair their own ball marks and sand the divots and the management addresses the sand bunkers and Tee boxes, this could be one of the most sought after golf course.
Course was great and cart paths are improving
I read recent reviews commenting about the condition of the c art paths and they were accurate - there were some really rough spots. The good news is a number of bad spots have already been addressed and many more are underway. This resulted in some rerouting of carts through the grass during the round, but it did not hold up play at all. The course itself was in great shape and the greens were firm, smooth, and fast. We had a beautiful day for December and enjoyed our round. We will be back!
Bring your 4x4!
The extremely damaged cart path makes this a dangerous outing! Beware that you will get nauseous and have a headache if your cart doesn’t throw you out when you hit a pot hole or busted up cart path throughout this aging course.... layout of the back nine is very bizarre and not fun to play...I’ll skip the one for a few years and maybe forever....
A great course, BUT...
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen worse cart paths! Strap on your golf bags extra tight. They had a couple of tee boxes that, in my opinion, should have been closed for repair. Still a nice course, I’d just love to see a portion of those $57.99 green fees go toward some repairs!
Great layout challenging Course
This is a great layout and a challenging course. You will use every club in your bag. Agree with previous reviewers the cart paths are horrible and need work and the bunkers need some TLC but all can be fixed. The conditions are good struggling in some spots and the rain has caused some damage but they will recover. I will be back for sure. They do need better range balls for the price.
Terrible Cart Paths
St. Marlo has potential to be a really good course. But the cart paths are absolutely terrible and the fairways need attention. Grrens are in relatively good shape. The green fees don't match the value of the course. Nearby Clubcorp courses are much better!
Great golf course. Layout is very good. Always enjoy playing this course. Some of the fairways and greens need to be maintained better. This would really improve the overall appearance of the course. The cart paths are in horrible condition and have been for years now. They have been totally neglected. It is very difficult to drive your cart on the paths.
This Course has Nice Potential
This course needs attention!! Players like to play here. I have seen Players who are members at other clubs who come and play here. The reason being, the course layout is challenging and tests the skills of low handicaps as well. There are so many scenic holes like number 1, 8, 14, 16, etc., nd the course length is par with some of the nicer PGA courses. So, to summarize, if the management can do something on some of the areas that need attention,, this could become a popular choice for many golfers.
The sand bunkers were just repaired pathetically. Seems like they hired a sand contractor and dumped the white sand into the bunkers. Some holes have more than twice the capacity of the sand, some still needs attention. No raking, leveling, etc. of any kind in the bunkers.
The cart paths... if they don't do something about this soon, someone is going to get hurt badly. It is a huge liability and management, please don't tell me no one warned you. Please fix this ASAP!! You will do yourself a favor.
Now, the Greens which used to be in nice shape is showing dry spots,, fungus, etc. It is sad to see that this course which has such a nice potential is going down the drain for lack of maintenance and attention.
